question on fuel pressure setting hook up...

Hi, I need alittle help on a how to?...I have a stock fuel rail. My question is with the fuel adaptor and fuel gauge to adjust fuel pressure with an adjustable regulator. Engine on and vacuum line off.I would like to connect the adaptor and gauge to set fuel pressure at 43psi with engine on/vauum line off for 17 psi of boost. How does's the fullthrottlespeed.com/ kirban Adaptor/ with gauge connect to factory rail the proper way?, Do I need to remove the shroud off the gm fuel rail to connect the gauge. Or does the adaptor just push in the factory buick shroud?. Any pics or videos for dummies would be appreicated. I'm asking because I don;t want to break anything from the fuel rail. I don't need to keep the gauge on/it's just for setting up fuel pressure.
 
At the end of the fuel rail on the drivers side there is a cap screw covering the threads to which the fuel gauge will attach. the fuel pressure is set with engine on , vacuum line off. Your boost will make the adjustments automatically. Hope this helps

I looked at the FTS piece and the Kirban piece. It appears the FTS one requires the removal of the schrader valve, but the Kirban one does not. Removing the schrader is no big deal, but if there's pressure in the system, be ready for fuel to come out (no smoking!!)

FTS model:
1) remove plastic screw cap from fuel rail (just like on the stem of a tire)
2) get some absorbent rags.
3) extinguish ALL sources of ignition.
4) remove schrader, and catch the gas with the rags
5) screw on the adaptor and gauge
6) stuff the gas soaked rags into a glass bottle that's half-filled with...no wait, that's only in the Middle East. You're done.

Kirban model: skip step 4.
 
Best to show a picture? Just make sure you remove the shrader valve inside the fuel rail

thx for your help on the fullthrotlespeed version adaptor with gauge, very helpful. The kirban version where u just push in would maybe be better if u just wanted to check fuel pressure and not have the gauge installed all the time. Thx again, by the way the FTS fuel gauge looks alot easier to read than the kirban gauge.
 
It was hard to follow but it sounds like you just need a plain ole fuel pressure test gauge. The kind with the braided hose.

Set the pressure, then tape it to the windshield and verify you have 1PSI extra for every pound of boost you run.
 
Thx for your reply...This one's a sleeper. I'm not planting or taping any fuel gauge to the hood so can see it better. I run only 17 boost. The kirban version makes more sense to me, connect the fitting in and out...Just like she was the neighborhood bicycle. Again the FTS gauge still looks way easier to read accurately by the pics above. Excellant feedback thx for the pics and replys. I'd still like to see how the kirban fitting just pushs in and out.
 
earl, I know u have to screw on the gauge to the adaptor or fitting. What I mean or what I read so far on the kirban verison is u just unscrew the factory cap on the car and the kirban fuel pressure kit comes with an ADAPTOR to just push in along with the gauge to read fuel pressure. There's suppose to be nothing to remove from the fuel rail including the shroud, just unscrewing the cap from the rail. That's the point. I don't know how to remove the shroud or inside parts on the rail, I dont want to try it ever, I'II most likely break it. Anyways when your finish checking fuel dissconnect the adaptor with gauge connected to it and screw in the factory cap back on..That what I think I got from reading....The point is to keep it stock looking. I like the easy way to connect and disconnect to adjust fuel. If it really works I never tryed it? My guy that tunes and adjusts my car, I should just ask him to do it, I just wanted to know how to do by myself, that's all

It would take less time to screw on the gauge, set pressure and remove it, than it took to type that post. You're really overthinking it.


then again if you have a guy that tunes and adjust your car why are you worrying about hooking up diagnostic equipment? I probably just misunderstood what you're trying to do (or just confused it with what actually needs to be done)
