I hate to bother anyone, but a buddy of mine does upolstering.

Is there a web or thread that shows how a headliner is done?

He needs this to give himself right amount of time.

Any help would be greatly apprciated. Last thing, before a motor.

TIA>>>>>>>>Rob

Don't know of a web site off hand, but I've done one and I don't do upolstering :) Just remove all the trim peices around the headliner board, and the light fixture and the headliner board comes right down....remove the headliner cloth, and then use 3M spray on glue to attach the new working from one corner to the other making sure not to get any wrinkles in it...then trim the edges and reinstall the board.

THANKS

Hey Rob Thanks for the information. Was

Just what Ineeded. He was worried about some kind of clips.

But being an artist. I can do it myself.

Just like photo mounting.

Thanks again. Saved me money too.....Rob....NY

I'm assuming its a non-ttop car and no astro roof. There may be some sort of clips on those. Also have to remove the visors.
The headliner cloth will have a foam backing, its when this backing dries out and rots that the headliner falls down...when you peel off the old one, part of the foam backing will still be on the headliner board, can usually remove it real easy by rubbing it gently with a wire brush and it will just flake off. Get the board good and clean of the old foam backing, otherwise the new headliner will fall right off for the same reason the original fell off.

So basically that's it. I know I can do this....

Again if ever I can help you. Please let me know.

Paints and illustrations, are my thing. I get my hands dirty.

But slow at the Motor stuff. That's why I'm now down to

Haveing a motor built before spring. Bought a white Limited from a woman. Turbo no less with blue interior.

Had all of original papers. So at 153,000 miles. Been driving it here and there to get work done.

So I thought the same for headliner. I put the windsheild in.

Not helpless. By the way that 6.6 Trans Am, is that the one with 8:4 pistons. Had one in a 64 chevy wagon with a Paxton. Jeez it had torque.....But feel in love with first ride in a GN. IN 92'
Had one stolen.....So I don't drive my low mileage car.

Again thanks for more information. Greatly Appreciated...Rob

One last question. Who sells these headliners.

I need a dark blue one. No "T" tops.

Would be very helpful. As I got a garage recently with a lift.

That a few guys bought......Rob

I bought mine from a local cloth and upolstery supplier. Just walked in with a piece of the old one and they color matched it. It's been over 10 years ago, the place was called Mark Dennis Industries I think?? Yu might try just going to a local upolstery shop and buying it from them or find out where you can get it.

Thanks 2QUICK6, I'll give your Idea a try.

Much appreciated..................Rob
