I just want to make sure I’ve got this in the right way, the split side goes towards the engine?

everything ive read says the grooved edge goes towards the engine ...GL

Thanks, I was second guessing myself when I read the note in the instructions “the largest raised sealing lip is towards the front of the engine” and I didn’t want to do this twice.

You always want the cavity towards what you're wanting to hold back.

..in this case, it's the crankcase pressure/oil.

Make sure you dont use the little side pieces. Fill the cavities with right stuff

Is that a new seal in the picture? Looks like some cleaning might be in order before putting that together.....

I just put the seal in there to get a pic for the post, I’ll clean in up better before I assemble everything. I really appreciate all the replies.
I’ve read a lot of the previous posts about the rear main seal and I was going to fill the cavities with RTV.
I wasn’t going to start the car for a few weeks so should I coat the seals with grease as opposed to oil?

A little grease or assembly lube wont hurt. keep it away from the ends of the seals.
