Im running a T70,Art Carr 9 inch 3800 stahl, full weight car, looking for a faster spooling turbo that will run just as good up top as my T70,was thinking of switching to GTQ 70 thinking it will spool quicker? any advice would be greatly appreciated:)

The q trim wheels do not spool as fast as the p trim wheel but are capable of making more top end power.
Imo the gtq will not spool quicker.
Play around with your programing if you are running dfi or get your chip reprogrammed with less low end fuel and it should help
your spool up.
Another option is to downsize your turbine housing (to .63) if you are running an 82 or 85. :)

Thanks for the info, your the second person that gave me the same advice,im running an 85 housing,I have ported Irons & 224 cam, stock headers,do you think switching to a 63 housing will hurt the top speed a sufficient amount?im also going to do some tunning on the low end(leaner)to see if that helps, the spool-up is horendous unless you are building boost off the line,im able to hold 20#'s on the brake so I dont think im running that rich down low

I do not think it will hurt you at all, i am running a 63 on my turbo and have plenty of top end.

I agree with you that your car has plenty of top end,but im only running a 70 trim compared to your 76,my car trapped 130 mph with a 4 inch dump & Hooker headers, now I have stock headers & a single shot 3 inch exhaust:confused:

No worrys, i am running stock unported headers and crossover pipe and your 3'' single will flow plenty.
Imo, my car might run faster with a 70 due to moving my powerband down, but i am not going to drop for one though,LOL!:D

As cheseburger said the gtq wheel will not help spool up. A cheap move will just go to the smaller housing but you will give up some power from the big housing. This is comparing turbo to turbo. Another option is to go with a ball bearing unit which will help tremendously but its not cheap.

My BB 70 with a .82 spools up a good bit better than the 63 with a .63:cool:

my 70 gtq with .85 with the 224/224 and a 3.5 dp is slow to spool but makes enough power to throw the rod thru the side of the block  after many 9 sec. pass's. time to build the stage block.

as Len says, slow spool = 50-100 HP more than a "regular" 70

no contest

don't think there are BB GTQ's available

I have switched from a BB70 to a GTQ and the power difference is amazing (.4 and 7 mph at the same boost, with a slower 60')

(signature is old combo.....new combo will be turned loose when it cools off in AZ.....)

The 70 GTQ is capable of blowing up a stock block no doubt. I would just buy the .63 and .85 housing(s) from the get go if I was you if you are worried. My opinion is your stall is more than enough to get it on-line. Yes, the GTQ wheel is a little tougher to spin up, it is heavy.

Thanks for all the responses,im going to take it to the track & try both the 63 & 85 housings to see the comparison in real world, not butt barometer:D
