Hi there TB forums :) I'm generally lurking on nastyz28.com , but I've been here before, simply because I've managed to shoehorn a 4 speed auto into my camaro.

In fact, this is where I found my transmission builder (Mike, of Transware Transmissions in Toronto) who I found be a stand up guy.

Now here's my dilemma.
I've got a console quicksilver shifter. It appears to be slightly different than the usual floor mounted version. It claims to be compatible with the 700r4 IE 4 speed autos, but I can't seem to figure out how to get it to engage OD.

The manual off B&Ms webpage for the floormount says you need to remove a 3 speed blocker pin and e clip, but I don't think this shifter even has one. The manual for the console version makes no mention of compatibility with OD trans at all.

Before I went and bought this thing I asked around and everyone assured me it should work. Please tell me they're right!!

If it is an older model quicksilver, it doesn't use a e-clipped blocker pin, I think it is a bolt you have to remove. With out a cable hooked up, can you ratchet the shifter from 4-3-2-1? If it stops at 2, the blocker pin/bolt hasn't been removed.

You also cannot use the stock trans linkage or cable. You need to buy a cable and use the universal bracket supplied with the shifter. If not you have to buy it also.
