R/R front hardened input shaft- 1 inch filter fell out- GOES??

im in the process of doing a shift kit and r/r the old input shaft on a 87 BRF trans, and installing a hardened input shaft-
everything is going well..

except there is a 1 inch long filter that is plastic and looks like a V in shape---- it fell out, and i dont know where it goes!!

there only looks like one spot where it can go, right next to one of the 5 bolts in the front pump assy--

can anyone tell me where this little sucker goes??

id hate to hurt anything from not putting that back in--

and i installed the small orifice that came out with the old input shaft, i ASSUME you must have it, so it's going back in-

Dont sweat it. No big deal. You are fine. JFI it goes in the tcc port in pump but no big deal.
You will sleep tonight.

so then i need to install the little filter in the tappered hole right below the tcc solenoid { when trans is upside down}

is that correct??

i dont understand how it fell out? the trans is upside down on the bench, and when i pulled out the front pump assy, that little filter was just laying there,,....

i guess gravity had everything to do with it huh

i will use grease to hold it into place if that is where it belongs-

I think Bruce meant you'll be fine w/o it, I had ask him a while back about them and he said he just leaves them out. It does not go under the solenoid, it goes in the back of the pump body in the tcc port, ATSG item #233 if you have one in the view of the pump assy. The hole were the solenoid goes in has bolt hole next to it for mounting pump to case and the hole next to that bolt hole on the back side is were the filter goes.

im confused now-

bruce, can i just leave it out of the tranny?

if i would have taken it out of a hole, i surely would know where it went--

i have no books or reference to tell me what a item # 233 is- so i guess i'll look at in the morning and see if i can find what HOT TO GO says to look for-

They typiclly fall out when you pull the pump, thus the reason you don't know how or were. Here's the thread were I asked Bruce about them.
