I see another member just lost a TR to some scumbag thief. :( Very sorry to hear that. :( How many of you have lost your car to a thief (even if you eventually got it back)?

Mine got taken 5 years ago, but I was lucky to get it back after a brief joyride minus only my CD player. No other damage was done. Boy was I lucky! So I'm victim #1 ;)

Victim #2????? Chime in. :(

got mine stolen on easter sunday (talk about a scumbag) acouple years back. Got it back minus a hood, doors, trunk, interior. What i would give to find the fockers who stole it:mad: .

my 86 GN got stolen on friday the 13th two or three years ago.

sadest day of my life :(

i was takin a girl to the movies, came out and it was gone.

i was SO STUPID! i was only 16, i didnt know these cars were
stolen all the time. didnt have any security devices on.

i guess the bright side is it didnt have anything but
a hooker exhaust on it, if the car i had now was stolen i would loose thousands of bucks in mods and various things. not to mention an extreemly rare limited.

the GN was clean though. 75k original miles. i loved that car.
she was my first :(

I had mine ripped 5 years ago in my works parking lot. I had The Club in the back seat and a case of beer in the trunk LOL!!. Now thats got to be one funny alley way when they shredded my car to bits while drinking my beer.

Cops found the car after seeing a guy leave with my doors in his station wagon. Guy got busted but of course was not in the car driving it so nothing probably happened to him. There is a west side ring out here in Chicago thats been stealing them forever. My old bosses brother owned a body shop in Chicago and used to get these guys trying to sell him parts. He even knew the general area of where my car was, he was about a mile away from his spot.

I got $8900 for it, it was a moon roof with 80k on it. I had just put in $4000 a few months earlier and those receipts netted me an extra $200 to the settlement.

I now have so much crap on my car only I can start it.

Here is my new security toy http://www.autobarn.net/unautx.html

This makes it 4 things to overcome now, and after this new paint job, the tracking device might be 5.

My first car was a 1980 Turbo Regal, it was mint.
GONE...I still miss it. I've been looking to replace it for 13 years, but never found one like it.

My '86 GN was stolen...

while I was buying groceries. I came out, looked for my car while cursing myself for forgetting where I parked it, only to get that "sinking" feeling when I realized that I was in the right place but the car wasn't. A week later I found it on the street about a half hour from my house. When I called the cops and they fell in behind the GN with me behind the cruiser in my rental car, I thought, "Alright, they've got these bastards!" I'm talking to the dispatcher on the cell phone the whole time. Then the cop turns on his blue lights........steps on it and passes my GN!!!!! Turns out that they had no idea what they were looking for when the dispatcher was telling them "Buick Grand National". If I'd told them "Regal" or "Monte Carlo" I'd probably have gotten my car back. Alas, they got away and I never saw it again.

My GN was stolen back in 1991, 2 weeks after I moved to Memphis from NJ. Got it back the next day with just column damage. Jokers even used my camera to take pictures out the windsheild as they were driving that night.

I then put better anti-theft protection on the car and it saved the GN in 1996. Scumbags tried to steal it from the hospital parking garage while my son was being born. Had to repair the column again and then I installed a Hard-Steal stainless collar. Damn repair bill for the column was $499 and my deductible was $500.

OOH OOH pick me, pick me!

My original owner '86 GN was stolen from my house in 1993, sometime around 3 am in the morning. At the time I lived in a condo complex and kept the car under a cover overnight. I thought I knew all of my neighbors well because they would always comment how often I washed and maintained the car.
The next day as I getting ready to leave for work I spot a crumpled-up car cover where a car should be. The cable lock was still attached as it was cut around the grommet. Now mind you the car had a little rumble to it with no cat and 2-chamber Flows. NO ONE HEARD A SOUND!

Here's the kicker. I was not driving the car because of a few teeth missing off of the ring gear. I had purchased another from Conley's (It was out of one of his personal cars, the box said "ZR-What") and planned to install it the following weekend. Oh, how I wish that the thieves would have grenaded that rear upon fleeing the scene!

I still miss that car and hope to replace it with another one in the near future. This time more wiser!

Stolen G/N

My ist G/N was stolen twice:eek: The 1st time a moron mechanic left the keysout and his junkie girlfriend took it. After some gentle persuasion it turned up the next day in dowtown Houston w/o the tires & rims. The second time I had parked it in my carport and came out about 20 min. later to find a large empty G/n shaped spot on the asphalt:mad: and I never saw it again... The silver lining to my sad tale- the very next week on the same day of the week about 2am I had just gotten off duty. My brother's friend was visiting and had parked his p/u in my now vacant spot. My room was above the carport and I heard an alarm chirp, and then I heard it again. I went to my bro's room and alerted his bud who replied that he had left his keys in the p/u! I grabbed my badge and service weapon and went to check it out when lo and behold I saw 2 shadowy forms in the cab of the truck:eek: :D I hooped into the driver's side and screwed my pistol into idiot #1's ear as idiot #2 was still trying to get the radio out of the dash! They had screwed up the alarm trying to hot-wire the truck and it disabled the starter ( they never even saw the set of keys sitting in the seat between them) as I yanked #1 my buddy and my two brothers appeared at the passenger side and wescorted #2 briskly out of the truck and onto the pavement. Anyway long story short, they had been casing/stealing/burglarizing cars for a couple of weeks and were on foot so they were eluding patrol by hiding under cars, etc. but I just got lucky:D odd, I haven't seen 'em since. My "new" G/N I bought from a priest!(That's a whole other story) I still think God drives a G/N check it out if you don't believe me... Revalations 3:11 "Behold I come quickly!"

Mine was stolen out of my carport after a car show (must have followed me home). My GN has 200,000+ miles on it and along with that was a 30k mile 97 ss camaro convertible, and a 20k mile eagle talon tsi. Anywho they broke in and pushed the car 4 blocks to the the east, 1 block south, and another 1 block east. They defeated 2 alarm systems, but couldn't get the car started. I had pulled the fuse to the fuel pump hotwire. So, $600+ in alarms didn't stop them, but a $.10 fuse did! :)

The cops called me and told my that my neighbor was complaining that my car was in their front yard. I didn't even know it was gone. Glad I found out that way rather than walk out and see an empty carport.

My 87 GN was stolen from in front of my house during the night almost 2 years ago. I woke up in the morning to go take my car to the muffler shop to have some exhaust work done on it and it wasn't there. It was found 6 months later in Oakland. Those people really screwed it up. Regular Regal interior was put in it, but decided to use my brand new sun visors, but took out my brand new head liner. Completely different dash, but they did put in GNX style guages. They put in a stolen motor from another TR, but decided to use my headers on it, along with my chrome intake pipe and breathers. They didn't give me my TA49 back, they gave me a stock turbo. They also took off my wheels and replaced them with 17" chrome Iroc Z wheels. They didn't look too bad, but not great either. Now the car belongs to my brother who is going to have the motor rebuilt and the car brought back to GN status. It will be cool again someday.

Oh by the way, this post is also an avatar check. Hopefully it is working, I emailed Bruce yesterday about one.

Sweet!!!!! :D

My Eublepharis Macularis avatar works!!!!!

Sorry for being off topic. Back to car theif stories....

My 40 k mile 87 GN was stolen from my college parking lot in the front row next to the security booth. This is like the BACK lot of the school, whoever stole it had to have been following me to know when I was leaving and where it would be... It was stolen within minutes of me parking it.

I found it 4 days later but after recreating the timetable (thanks to a very nice lady who saw the car when it was dumped and called my insurance agent off my insurance card) basicaly the car had been sitting for 3 days.. the car was completely stripped and sitting on 4 donuts... My friend steve (TTA850 on here) bought it back, the Tranny ended up in my old TTA, the engine is in his 10 sec GTA, rear quarters on a friends rearended GN, and the rest (wht little was left) got cut up.

I still miss that car :( only had it for 1 month and 24 days!!

It's 5:30 PM and dark in not so sunny char brolied Peoples republik of Kalifornia: does everybody know where their toys are at. If not, go find them and give them a hug.

Stolen

lost my gray 86 t type . 5 years ago i just finished my 86 up and drove it to the track and ran very low 11s 119 mph . next day my shop was broken in to and my car was gone ! they wanted my car they had to move 5 GNs to get to it . they left 5 super nice GNs out in the street 1 still running .and the kicker is they got the car with my tools and the slicks in the trunk . i had ZERO insurance. i did not get it back .

I had my GN stolen also.

Ordered 87 GN Dec 1st 1986.

Came in June 1st 1987, with blown rear fron factory.....no fluid in rear.....two weeks later she comes home.

Oct 1st 1987 while at work in a corporate park, buddy and I go to bank in his car, come back GN is gone.

Was gone for 36 hours and found in lovely Newark, NJ, I go up to get it, fat cop behind desk says "wheres your registration"? I reply in the car....he says "Whats it doiong there"? To that I reply..."well if I ever get pulled over by a cop I can give it to him". To that he says "Well you should really carry it on ya" I said "Thanks for the tip".

Damage was done by tow truck ripping it off street sideway, damaged DS fender, bumper and header panel. Got her fixed and back home and Lojack installed.

Three- four motors, couple headgaskets, a few trans' a couple turbos and 14 years later we're in the 10's...woo hoo.

stolen GN's

I'm "missingmybuick"s little brother. Yeah, it was stolen, now I'm getting it rebuilt as soon as he gets his stupid celica out of our garage. I guess I don't have anything else to say. I'm done for now!!!:) :)

P.S.
My "new" G/N I bought from a priest!(That's a whole other story) I still think God drives a G/N check it out if you don't believe me... Revalations 3:11 "Behold I come quickly!"

rev. 3:11, my dad is a pastor and i totally agree that GOD drives a GN

As of yesterday between 7:30 and 8:45 I'm the newest member.

Law enforcement is a joke when it comes to car theft. I have zero faith in them even giving me a follow up call.

:(

My old '87 GN was stolen twice and broken into one other time. It was stolen once when it had only 23K miles and once when it had 35K miles. The first time, the bastards completely stripped out the mint interior (including the head liner). The second time they stole my stereo, wheels, and cracked the heads. Seems they thought the car was made for driving in the mud

To top it off, three weeks after I had mine stolen the second time, my father's '87 was stolen while I was driving it. All of the thefts were from the same place, which just so happened to be my place of employment at the time... so there wasn't really much I could do besides adding more and more security devices...

Now, I'm just hoping to graduate from college soon, so I can afford to buy another ...
