Johnnie: Great Story!! We had some older friends from Canada who rolled a Turbo Buick as well (They were in their 70's and had a backyard full of cars.) We met at a Buick event in SoCal. (also met a bunch of other cool Buick people!)

Bates Nut Farm (Steve Hurst used to run it but since he passed, I think Mike B aka spoolfool is running it) THAT was always a great show with great cars and great people- A real family friendly event!!! (I've been to BG too and it was better than BG- I don't drag- my pockets aren't deep enough) LOL:eek:

Definitely bring your camera for BG. And some batteries, charger and if digital, extra cards. I haven't been since the early nineties(Kids, family and life) but I would have to say it is an excellent experience. I hope you are taking your car.

That's my Regal on the left next to a buddy's convertible and another buddy's Stratomist Blue 72 GS.

TexasT: I've seen that pic before. Looks like a great time. I don't think it's anywhere near like that anymore.

Having owned several TR's, including 3 stock GNs, one that looked intimidating (with beefy rear tires), and my current Turbo T, I've had quite a range of responses from people throughout the years. With my GN's, I've had quite a few that didn't know what it is - often thinking it's a Monte SS.

Anyway, I kind of wish I had your problem. Now, I have a TR, with all the money in the drivetrain so far. The paint is original, oxidized, rims look like crap, and it just doesn't look so special - a sleeper chrome car for sure. I'm usually hunting/yearning for someone to race. The last memory I have is 3 guys in an STi (I've owned 2 of those). They saw me, and didn't think much, as the driver hits the gas. I made him look like he was standing still. When they caught up to me at the next light, I got a couple thumbs up's from them. And it looked like they weren't too sure what they were dealing with. All they knew is I had an extremely quick car.

With my fastest GN (see pic), most didn't want to mess with me...which was a bummer. I'd take on anyone in that thing...GN1s, FMIC, etc. That thing was brutally quick...should've never sold it. :banghead:

Anyway, I do agree with Mike T. Either way, this is what we call a "quality problem" in life. ;)

I'm doing all my mechanical stuff first before I put money into the restoring my current TR's cosmetic issues. It needs a full interior as well. But I'm torn about putting on the front air dam. This is the 1st chrome car I've owned, and having bought it w/o those moldings makes it look even more sleeperish. If you're not looking at it head-on, it almost looks like a regular Regal. Of course as my member pic shows, at the proper angle from the front view, the FMIC pipes a hangin' are a smidge of a subtle indication that there's something going on with it.

But I'm curious why you're upset. Do you not want to race all the time?

I live by those wise and very cool words and invite ANYBODY to bring their junk on in a street race.

'Nuff said.

No, I'm not really upset at all. Sometimes a little irritated, maybe. In reality , I just don't want a "reckless op" on my driving record, or worse, wreck or total my car.
