I can't seem to drive my GN without some dumbass trying to race me or ask me questions when I stop to get gas.If had known these cars would cause this I would have bought a mustang.

I got two thumbs up in traffic on Friday. No one at the gas station even noticed me though which was great.

Sell the GN. Buy a Limited or T. Same performance less dumb asses bothering you. Worked for me :D

This happens to me a *lot*. Most of the ones that just ask questions are probably just curious and admire your ride. Like someone told me in another post, " Stand proud , my friend". People ( aka dumbasses) that always want to race are probably just envious of you because they don't have a GN, are insecure and probably have little weenies. I just laugh , noticeably, when that happens, and that really *pisses* them off.

It could be worse.....what if you didn't have one at all and you were the onlooker? Some days I'm just thankful the worn out junk that I have.

I drive a worn out s10 truck most everywhere I go and at traffic lights you can just feel people looking down their noses at you. Drive one of my Buicks around and there is an instant change in peoples attitudes. It's a shame that the word is so superficial.

It is. It most definitely is.
But I must say this.....almost all of the TB community are fine, generous human beings. I am proud to be a member.

i can't count how many times people have asked me if my blue T Type is a GN...
Lol. I haven't experienced that yet over here. Maybe the plain white paint and chrome trim makes mine look too much like a grandpa car for anyone to be interested in talking about it. Lol.

Eh, I'm super excited to be an owner of my GN. I welcome anyone that wants to talk about it. Their excitement and need to comment is exactly how I was before I got mine. I love this car, And I hate this car. I want to sell it because she pisses me off or I want to love her and take out from my 401K to pay for the paint job... Lol.

I'm happy to be part of such an amazing community of proud owners. I've gone to other forums just to read for other cars and everyone is full of themselves.

People who talk shit about their car being faster KNOW what this car is, RESPECT the car deep in their hearts, and are ENVIOUS for not having one. My paint looks like shit, I'm missing the front bumper fillers, and she still gets a lot of love from people.

Some of the comments I get are funny. When I was filling up for gas the jockey commented on how nice my car was and that it probably cost lots to make it that way. I looked at him and said it has 14K original miles nothing has been changed. Another time when I was getting gas in my high milage (70k) one, some kid told me how his car was faster and I asked him what his car ran and he didn't know. But he knew it was faster than my 6 cylinder.:ROFLMAO:

Lol. Should've slapped that kid :D

And what were reasons #1 and #2?

# 1.
I had an '86 GN stolen in '96, never recovered. I wanted another TR ever since then. It took a while, but I finally got another one.

#2.
That little smirk on the face and twinkle in the eye of a ricer guy's girlfriend as I show his smart ass what one of these car's is all about.

It's not a GN and it doesn't get the respect a GN does, but when I stomp on the loud peddle, people stop, look and say "holy shit!".

^^I concur with Guy.
1. My 86 T-type was stolen when I was stationed overseas in 1995/96
2. Similar story. Raced a pony car with my ttype back in 92. Thought he was something. He took off so fast his girl friend's seat must have come unlatched and fell back. All you saw was her hair fly and her feet go up in the air. I played with him for a moment and let him have it. He didn't have a chance. Got to the next light and I saw the dome light come on. His gf got out of the car and stormed off! It was priceless.

I have black regals now but hope to have something more "old man" style (e.g. Light blue, cream, maybe something with a padded roof and a column shift) in the future. It really is hard to drive around without getting too much attention. Sometimes, the wrong kind.

Sometimes my luck is so dang good, it's unbelievable, maybe even "Blessed". Sometimes I get to meet absolutely incredible people and that is what this little post is about. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did the experience.

Funny you should mention the " grandpa " reference. I was out cruising around / running errands in the GN. No traffic anywhere. I see this Regal T Type limited (I found out later it was an '87) driven by this older fella and his wife in front of me. Looked like the quintessential grandma and grandpa in a car that only was driven to church on sunny Sundays. Out of state plates, very clean, bench seat, chrome trim, vinyl top, hood ornament, single exhaust, did have the hood bulge but no SFI turbo badge on it and it was a beige color. Like I said, the proverbial "grandparents car".
I pull up behind him, and a 30's something "cool guy " , mirrored shades and all, pulls up along side him in a later model GT mustang.( What IS it with GT mustangs?!)
With blow master mufflers he cracks a rev apparently trying to get MY attention. Well, "pops" sees him, and inches forward like he's entering the staging lights. Windows are down, and I can hear sunglassboy say " old man, you f*ckin' kiddin' me?" Well , pops and his wife look over at him and pops continues to inch forward. A little voice told me that this wasn't this mature fellow's first rodeo and I was about to get a show.
Light about to turn green, he's on the brake and brings the revs up building a little bit of boost. Light turns green. A lot of racket from the blowmasters, tires a-squallerin' but gramma and grampa hook up nicely and pops immediately pulls a fender lead at about 100 feet and never looked back. Beat him by at least 2 lengths in about an eighth mile. All of us pull up to the next light about a half mile down the road. Sunglassboy didn't even have the kahunas to pull up next to him. I'm laughing and coughing so hard I almost peed my pants. What's funnier still is that gramma and grampa are laughing hysterically too. I mean they were having a *really* good time. They even high-fived each other.
They pull off to a mall parking lot down the road and I followed . I just had to meet these two very cool people. Turns out, they're both in their very early 80's and apparently very healthy . His name was Robert ( his wife calls him "Bobby" and his wife is Genevieve ( Jenny). ) He told me how much he always liked drag racing and how going fast has always been his vice. As member of the "200 mph club"' this calm and cool guy used to drive friggn' AA/ fuel altereds (!) in the 60's and 70's. Learned to turn a wrench courtesy of the us army during the Korean War. Gave up drag racing because a very close friend got really seriously injured and out of his wife's concern for his own safety he gave driving the altered. BUT they didn't give up having a little fun, though, especially and apparently when rattling the cages of roving and unsuspecting doofusses. ( doofi?)
I asked him about the TB website, but he tells me that he just doesn't like the internet so he doesn't get on it much except to read about stuff he's interested in.
We parted , but not before I shook his hand ( dude had a strong grip btw) , and I said " Rock on, young man. YOU are awesome!" He said " thank you, son" , his wife then gave me a little wink and they strolled into the Walmart holding hands.
Made my day. I wanna be like that. I just gotta wait a couple of decades.......

Where are the pix. Id love to see the Limited and its owners!

Unfortunately no camera...........I wanted to take one with my phone but the gentleman declined. Kind of a shy fellow and maybe a little eccentric--- but that's ok-- so out of respect I didn't take any.

I understand. I take phone pix of everything I can. I get stopped at least twice a month to see if my car is for sale. The last guy was a flipper in a real nice kennebell blown convertible mustang. It was the fancy changing color paint and sounded pretty wicked. Mine is my daily driver. That's why I bought it. Most who ask don't have the cash but this last guy was serious if the price would have been right. I usually ask for an offer but if they press me I start at $20k. Way more than any sane person would pay but if they ante up Ill go get me a limited.

"T", I will say this...... My TB has given me a heluva lot of joy... Both in driving it and the people I meet. The wife and myself are going to BG this year hopefully to meet more nice folks.
