So I came across this story of a rare Mustang, A 1970 King Cobra with 700 WHP
I didn't think there were any muscle cars I hadn't heard of.
I was wrong!

I scanned the story and some photos.
Happy reading

Very cool. I want to hear it run....scratch that, I want to take it for a spin!

Cool. So technically even though they made 3 cars, they are all one of ones since they all have different motors.
That yellow car appears to have a different front end set up with the head lights as well. Unless they have covers.

Cool car.

On a side note, I watched peter klutt buy a REAL nice 1970 Boss429 mustang last night for 200k on what's it worth? Tv. Wonder what one of those three would bring?

Actually it is Torino based not a mustang modified to beat the daytona and superbird in nascar, but they changed the rules.

Correct, the cars in this thread are not Mustangs, but rather Torino's, specially modified to run NASCAR.

If you go to the Bass Pro show at Foxboro this summer you can see one in person. The owner will talk for hours about it. Cool car. Strange looking too. The body was restyled by the same Japanese guy that did the 240Z.

Ive heard of the ford hemi but that was the extent of what I knew of it...How many people knw the Oldsmobile also had their own hemi...

Ah yes. Not a Mustang. I saw the word Cobra and my Brain ran with it. My mistake!

The one in these pictures must be the one that goes to Foxborough MA since it resides in RI.

Old friend of mine actually restored and owned one the cars years ago. He had it at the car show I used to run at Moroso Performance in Guilford back in the 80's. Believe it was the orange one. Fully restored and the one thing I remembered about it was the back window was all scratched up. Guess it was a one off window or something.

After reading the posted text of the article there was no mention of the guy I know who owned it before? Strange...also saw mention of the rear window so has to be the same car. Remember he didn't have the rear window slats on it like that yellow one and it did have a Boss 429 in it.
