What is the ideal rod length to crankstroke ratio if any and how is it derived?

Divide rod length by the crankshaft stroke. The higher the ratio the better. With high rod/stroke ratios, you end up with less cylinder wall loading and piston speed is slowed. They say rod ratios are not critical with the Buick V6, performance wise. Just use the longest rod that you can within reason.
