The tach lead is a green connector with what looks like 2 white(or gray) wires going to it...It will be near or behind your alternator if your car is an 86/7...

As for the instructions, I don't know...I haven't hooked mine up yet...

Good Luck...

yeah i have one and the best part is you have to disconnect the factory tach to get it to work, (which my lazy butt is still yet to do) I have the 2 1/16 VDO Tach, Caspers square wave converter and neither work until you disconnect the factory tach.

and the best part is i connected it and then it didnt work, i called spina he said i have to disconnect my factory tach, so i disconnected the VDO since neither worked when it was on....

now i disconnected the green spade and my boost gauge stopped working (could be coincedence but it was the exact minute i connected the VDO to the system that my factory boost gauge stopped working and has not since)

Hmm, I have this tach, it doesn't work, and I assumed it meant I needed that expensive squarewave mod done to it. But maybe I'll try disconnecting the factory tach. How do I do this?

No really, how do I do this? I want to explore every avenue before coming to the conclusion that I'm hosed w/ a $35 pod decoration.
