yea they will never do it.
as it is, i went to the LA auto show, and your lucky enough if any of the buick rep's even know what the grand national model is.
also, many threads on this subject do a search.

This will NEVER happen... I know someone who works for GM and Buick will never build another car like it. As a matter of fact word is Buick might not be around too much longer....

It clearly states that this is merely a concept from the editors at Popular hot rodding. It's a suggestion from them to Buick. It would be like if I drew up a car, took out an ad in the paper and said hey buick, make this the GNX.
The funny thing is if I did that there would be threads on here with the scanned ad and the title "zOMG!!!@111!11 BUICK IS MAKING A GNX!!!! L@@K!!!"

If anything, I would think Buick would be the one branch of GM still making money. Dispite not having much of a muscle car you still got tons of granpa and grandmas still buying Buick. Then on top it off, you got a huge Boby boomers group about to retire. I would think those people would give Buick a huge spike in sales.

I can see why Olds, Chevy, and pontiac took a dive but Buick has always had a more well built and designed car. Just ask any old timer and they will say either a Cady or Buick. Keep in mind like I stated above, you got by far the largest group of people about to retire as well. I really don't see why Buick would be stumbling to sale cars. Heck, Isn't Buick the oldest of the GM's also? Now Buick seems to have long since gotton away from it's Muscle car image. So if they want to attact a more younger group of drivers, than ya, I can see where a GN/GNX would come into play. The problem is, this move could be to late.Turbo6Smackdown

Baby Boomers may be getting older, but they don't want to look old. We are talking about a generation far more active than their parents.
Until Buick shakes that "old" image they are not going to sell cars...
absolutely. Now mind you, this is just an opinion but, what sells cars, is stimulation. what is stimulation? the need to make more. if the old ones arent broke yet, noones buying new ones. why do sunfires and mustangs continue to sell like hot cakes? cuz their buyers are predictably irresponsible. these kids buy these little beaters, and beat the **** out of them, stimulating the sunfires micro economy. take a 4 year old park ave. or a 5 year old grand marquis. when those cars were bought, where did they go. right into the garage. immediately. theyre driven 7 times a year, and are taken care of. that 55 year old, will probably never buy another car again, and when he/she dies, theyll pass that car onto their now 29 year old grand/greatgrand kid, and theyll beat it till it dies, THEN ill go to the junkyard.
The death/rebuying of cars like this, is VEERRRY slow. I seen it every day as the asst. manager of a local auto maintenace facility here in my area. Those older folks, would come in, with their 1999 grand marquis wanting a 'oil change and lube' and those cars would have 899 miles on em, and be in just pristine condition. To make a steady stream of income, you have to produce a cheap, disposable car, that will not live past 5 years, forcing that demographic to go ahead and buy another car. Old people dont change their minds quickly, as they werent brought up in a 'throw away' society, or train of thought. They came up realizing the value of a hard earned dollar, and dont readily break things, or squander their money. They think loooong and hard when choosing a new car, and when they get it, they take great care of it.
they dont hot rod it, theyre always on time with their oil changes, and their cars get little to no use. Theres NO MONEY in that market man. NONE. When a 68 year old, plops down 22 grand, on a nice car, you better believe hes takin care of it. Buick, in their infinite wisdom, god bless their hearts, have been driving down the wrong path, for 19 years now, and are just now starting to realize, that they should have taken that left at albuquerque. Sure, theres pride in knowing, that they make solid (as brick shi*houses i might add) cars, for established, grown adults, that can easily last 30 years, as opposed to cheap little ****boxes that get used, raced, and driven into the ground before 80,000 miles, BUT.....the money is selling things to IMPULSE buyers, with horrible spending habits... not to established grown ups, who take care of things lol. EEVVEERRYYOONNEE else, has brought back at least one, of their money making labels.. or at least evolved one, to a pretty decent, realistic car. Like the malibu. decent little car. has pep, is quite solid, and you wont be embarassed driving one, to a busniness lunch for example. Buick, has done nothing.
I love my car company to DEATH, and support them 110% every day I can. Every model too. But like I said in the past, everyone knows, that the last decent buick to ever be put out, was the turbo regals... Period. Every buick put out (except this new lucerne, which is actually sh*t hot) has been a total bland letdown. I mean an automotive disaster....
I sure hope this chinese venture, is enough to keep buick above water, cuz i KNOW a few people up in higher headquarters are mentally tossing the idea around, of trying to bring back the grand national/gnx name. I mean who wouldnt? Tell me if done right, it wouldnt be the biggest thing since the new challenger... People would FLOCK to see the new grand national.... Just my opinion...
