Guys I am asking so I dont forget anything

So far I know I need:
2 sets of steel shim headgaskets for double stacking
A set of new ARP head bolts
A new set of intake gaskets
Valve cover gaskets

Do I need some sealant for between the gaskets? What do you guys prefer?

Finally which vendor carries everything I need? Postons catalog is too vague on what brand the items are in their catalog

TIA

Most guys use the GE1200 sealer on the steel shims.Oh and one more thing you need....PATIENCE.Take your time and you won't regret it.

Thanks sixgun, I remember Intercooler talking about it on his car but couldnt remember the name.

Does it go inbetween the gaskets only, or on the deck and head sides also. Thanks

You're sure the heads are dead straight and not warped?
Might be worth a resurfacing to be sure,if you're not.

be sure to torque everything ! i just finished replacing mine yesterday and i took my time and cleaned everything and torqued to specs. good luck.

ps yours will probley be easier i have head studs! and i did them in the car.:(

If you need 1200 I have two tubes left. You sure you want to go doubles? I think you introduce more chance for problems that way. I used singles but if I was going to do doubles I would just concentrate on sticking the two together as a package first (do only the inner surfaces) and let it set up then go back in to do the final install. It gels in about 5 minutes so have everything lubed, layed-out, etc.... so you can move quick!

Well I was leaning towards doubles to keep the same compression ratio. I suppose with a single I would not have to run quite as much boost.
Is GE1200 normally used on a single gasket for extra insurance?

does the difference in compression between a single and double steel shim HG make THAT much of a differnece. i.e. will the motor detonate at the same boost level as before?

I am using them because I do not want to do this again. I just ordered Jason's HG kit which has everything I need except the bolts and intake gasket

So my final Q is by double stacking it should be close enough to stock that I do not have to shave the intake or anything, right?

Bob,

No shaving necessary!

Hope they grow a beard before they need replacing again!

HTH :)

blackbuick87....

What comes in the HG kit ?

I don't see it on his web page...

Look again, Phatman...click on Buick products.

It's really there, and a great package, too!

HTH :)

The kit is four gaskets, a roller, a cardboard template, and a tube of GE1200. I talked to him about it for a couple of mins and he gave me a few tips for applying the silicone.

I just saw the link in another post and it showed the kit.
My link must be getting old I guess...
