I am consideringg getting a new converter for my TTA. I am leaning towards getting a single disc vig. But wanted some input before I make my mind up.

Love my Vig, but I have nothing else to compare it to.

Ditto - My single disk Vig works great on the street and the dragstrip. It produced a HUGE drop in E.T. over the old D5, and; that was with a stock turbo. Now that I have finally upgraded to a new Precision GT3255 just like the one in your sig, it is like turning on an instant boost switch.

My single disk Vigilante served me well for years, but I did pick up a little by switching to to "N" stall "real" art carr. If your looking to stay in the mid to lower 11s or doing a lot of street driving. I'd stick with the Vigilante, if tens are in your future and you do more track time than street time, then the NL Art Carr is the ticket.

I am planning on staying low 12s/11s with the GT3255. I know the AC NL is lighter but probably not much difference for the level I will be at. My 7 disc has treated me well too. I just thought a NL AC converter with a GT3255 wold spool instantly. :)

I have two Vigi's in cars already.

When the third needs a trans I will have three :-)

Scott,

Just curious how much did you actually pick up with the NL? I know it's not really worth it for us street driving guys. Just want to know how much I'm leaving on the table.

I thought it did spool as fast or faster than stock with a D5

Not really sure, I have a bad habit of making multiple changes at once. The converted is what put me in the nines versus 10.0s. The CPT converters (real Art Carr) are said to be around 7% slip.

Real Art Carr

My 9 inch no lock CPT N pump is way better than my old unreliable TCS 9/11 lock up SO THERE

It does not spool that fast. Probably the same as a stock set up.

Doesnt artcarr make a lockup converter to? if so why isnt it raved about as much..seems everyone pretty well goes with a vig. if using lockup if not goes with AC..

I had this AC converter in my car :

http://www.artcarr.com/storm.cfm?funnelaction=10&ProductID=7035

It would spool so fast that it was easy to lose control at 18psi or above. 2nd gear, half throttle would blow the tires off HARD. Not an easy converter to get traction with. Like Ive said in past posts, it felt like I lost 100hp after switching to the D5 thats in there now. The AC did slip alot though. While cruising away from a light, Id be revving at about 3500rpm steadily through the gears until about 65mph. I imagine it was heating the crap out of my tranny too cause I didnt have an external cooler.
I have no idea what a vigalante is like.

I have a Art Carr 16930 NL 3000-3200 for sale if your interested
A brand new nonlockup valve goes with it.

How long have you had that TC? From what I understand, by converter has gone through a few people after I traded it, and none of them even tried it in their car. Its too bad cause that converter was like 100 shot of nitrous.

i had to do the same thing earlier in the year thought about an art carr which my bro. has in his and been lastin for a long time, vigilante was my next -till i didnt think i couldve came up with $795 at the time so i researced and researched i went with an edgeracing.com convertor from cali. for $495 shipped. at the time; maybe $530 now shipped but so far so good i love it as you can see in the sig its a lockup but what i like about it is it spools FAST, and its a 9 1/2", and once you call the guy named andre he ask for all of your car specs so he can get it calculated right. couldve bought one from poston for about 300 bucks but i wanted a 9 in. if this one ever dissappoints me next id consider carr, ckperformance, pts extreeme. But so far it hasnt. so now im stuck on it. i drive it every other day and i only have a te44 but i bought the dynotech trans and the convertor at the same time. knocked a complete second off my times but i also added the m/ts so im surrrreeee they helped too but in the 1/8 went from 8.8 and 8.6s. with these 3 changes only to 7.7s best of 7.66 on cold day. 60fts from 2.0 and 1.9 to 1.7s and 1.6s twice. ive been keeping up for durability purposes how many runs ive made since the change( 21 )passes through out the yr. been practicin more on take offs lately. now ive only got a low 12 sec car maaaaaybe a high 11 after i put the alky on it :D any one know what the 11.99 sec. time would be in the 1/8th in hot south ga.

Well here's your chance to have the Art Carr $400.00 shipped in the 48
