Leave the door open and back quickly out of the garage.Seriously, might want to look around the w body forums for some help, (not sure if a Century is a W body or not??) though I do on occasion ask for Grand Prix help here.
Just had the back door panel off on my 98 Grand Prix and it was pretty simple. Amazing how much styrofoam is inside the doors on these cars. Held on with a few of those nylon quick clips and a couple screws around the door handle. Should be able to get it off within 15 minutes or so tops. Be prepared to replace all those clips as they tend to be a one shot deal.
Post hijack!!!!
So how did you get the back door panel of that Grand Prix?
I have a 97 GTP and the rear window seems to have broken free of the regulator. It'll go down, but not up. I can lift it up, but it won't stay up....so I taped the bejesus out of it. Looks very trailer trashy.
It is held on with some of those nylon push on retainers for lack of a better word. There is a special tool to remove them but you can also use a screwdriver, there are also a couple bolts in the door handle area that you have to remove as well, there were some little plugs that hide them. Had the same problem as you with the window. Was doing the infamous upper intake replacement (plenum is made of plastic and the egr tube eventually melts into a coolant passage thereby flooding your motor with coolant!!!!) GTP has the supercharger though, right??
Car was down for a couple of days and walked by it and the window is down half way. Battery is disconnected so I know no one hit the button! Got a replacement motor/regulator off ebay for $50 and replaced it. The cables were all messed up.
EASY! Think it was like 6 bolts total?
