Progress has been slow on replacing my rear main seal as I have been sick for the last month.......but this past weekend I crawled under the GN and finally got the pan off.......I have a flex plate "turning tool" and attempted to find the sweet spot to remove the pan without loosening the motor mounts and jacking the engine up....couldn't find it so I removed the motor mount bolts and the transmission mount bolt and jacked the motor up and after jockeying the pan around it came out. The pan was surprisingly clean on the inside but the oil pick up screeeen was completly "choked" and covered with some kind of debris (non metallic). The stock rubber gasket was torn at the rear of the engine (could have been the souce of my leak).....the passenger side pan rail was dry while the drivers side and the rear were oily......so I suspecpt a lot of my problem was the pan gasket.
Tomorrow night I'm going to remove the rear main bearing cap and inspect the seal and bearing.......The side rails look ok as there are no gaps/voids and they appear dry.......A quick question......I want to replace the oil pick-up tube and screen and need a GM part number. Does anyone have it?? I called my old foggie Buick parts people today and they were of no help at all.......didn't have it and wouldn't order it unless they had a part number.....Duh........only in Oklahoma ( no offense ) but this dealer sucks..... Advance Auto parts said they could get the screen for me but I was wondering if the tube and the screen are a unit??

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer.........
