I would like to rebuild my TE44 turbo. I noticed I had a lot of up and down shaft play and when I first start the car it will smoke for a few seconds ( I am ruling out the heads bc they were just rebuilt, along with the rest of the motor). Where can I purchase the bearing and seals? Thanks

Te44

pull apart inspect and clean then you can order a custon rebuild kit for parts NEEDED from the turbo vendors or PM me for the kit i used.
Mark your clocking rotation before dissasembly also mark your Turbo wheel (intake Side) with shaft to wheel location...its balanced.

I agree with the above rec and limit engineering also. I dont think your smoking problem is the turbo. if it was you would see a lot of oil in the ex side behind the turbine blades. If the CHRA has that much slop then you will need to replace that also or you will have excess oil flow through it and it will leak past the piston sealing ring into the ex.

i had a turbo that was leaking oil into the IC, the car would smoke like crazy at WOT and i could pull a quart of oil out of the IC weekly.
