I will be picking up a 200-4R two weeks from now. Contrary to the other one I bought - this one was running 150k in a 1989 Caprice.
I already have one that is toast. Something happened inside the direct drum, all the piston springs were sheared off and rattling around inside. I think there was a problem with the band and pin too. However, the input shaft looks new... I mean new. I suspect this was a product of an imporper rebuild.
Anyway the other 200-4R may be good for some parts.
My point is, that I have some experience with the innards of a 200-4R.
My question is:
I have the haynes rebuild Manual.
I know there is a an ATSG and a video on rebuilding 200-4Rs. Both are expensive. Are they necessary ?
