My transmission was just rebuilt, the direct clutches had the dual feed done and now I have a 2-3 flare under heavy throttle that wasn't there before. It's fine under part throttle cruising.

The dual feed was done as follows,
center sealing ring in the direct drum (actually on the drum) removed and left off, removed the 2nd sealing ring on the center support, and then blocked the bolt that goes in the reverse passage. This hole was blocked by using a 9/16 bolt rather than welding up the hole which ran through the original bolt which was 10mm.

Please see diagram

Do you trans experts think that by using a 9/16 bolt I am restricting the fluid passage enough to cause the flare or should look else where. I also installed CK's recalibration kit, should I maybe have drilled out a hole a bit larger due to the dual feed? This was a complete rebuild, it air was air tested and showed no leaks! Is there somewhere else I should look? I plan on getting back at this thing after the weekend as I work the next 3 nights. I had a billet forward drum, and added a billet ring gear this time as well.

With our new seprator plate there is no need to drill the plate and it sounds as if you have done everything correct.Go to wide open throttle ans see how much the pressure drop is on a 2/3 upshift. This is where you need to look.

Jim make sure you have our late plate and that your builder didnt install the balls that dont go in the 3 bathtubs in the case as well.Late plate will have 2 holes deleted and 4 ballchecks in the case. The balls go in bathtubs only.

What size is the 3rd accumulator hole in the plate?

Chris,

the plate I have has a small X on it, I had purchased it a couple of years ago, it came with the manual brake. Is that the latest plate?

I'll speak with Juliano the builder on Tuesday and mention the ball checks to him. We may have to give you a call. Thanks again for the info guys and to Chris for getting me the parts so fast.

I'll get a pressure gauge on it and see what happens at wide open 2-3 shift.

Jim

That is a stock GM 8657309 plate. Not good in stock form for dual feeding with what is available now.

Hi Chris,

I'll give you a call on Tuesday and figure out what I need.

Thanks

Jim

Bison, I just noticed this question, I'll measure this hole and let you know. I think it's .113" I'll have to double check though.
