Im starting project (REBUILD) on my 79 sport turbo regal and am wondering if there's any advise you all have for me. Im going to go with .30 over forged pistons, a good comp cam all the regulars and balance the rotating assembly. I've heard of drilling out oil channels to get more oil but not sure which ones to open up and also if I go with an MSD does that go inline with ECS or does 1 replace the other ???? Any help is appreciated

VEGAS (Dion) Thanks;)

The MSD can go inline. So you can have the Knock sensor working.

The oil passage I emailed you. If needed I can make a copy of the page in the V6 performance book that shows which holes to drill out.

Went there once. Are you building stricktly a race engine? If you are, then getting oil channels drilled out may be the way to go. However, if you're not building a race engine...then it's a real bad idea.

If you won't take my advice....at least know that this opinion was passed on to me by Jim Bell. A fresh rebuild with a new cam and cam bearings brings up real tight tolerances and will certainly bring up your oil pressure. Mine at hot idol is an easy 25 lbs.

All I did was what I suggested, a bigger oil filter, KB booster plate, longer gears, campher crank oil holes, .030 the rod journals on the crank, .020 on the mains.

Here some good links about some things you wrote about:
