Worked about 5 times and then quit. Was told by gbody it must be the relay. Replaced the relay and no change. I can hear it clicking but not doing anything. Anyone else have experience with these?

I appreciate the response but it's a brand new rebuilt unit from GBODY that cost me $200. I don't need it repaired, I need to know why it quit working after only a few times and does anyone else have experience with these?

yea it is a Nylon mast and if they get in a bind they break could be 2 weeks could be 2 years but that is about as long as any has lasted me.New or refubished.... G-BODY should Exchange it .That is If they do the right thing ?

Like it won't run at all. I just hear an on off click every few minutes like it's trying to engage but doesn't. It worked great the first couple of times but then nothing. If the mast was broke wouldn't it just run?

it is going out on internal overload their is a set of contacts in the antenna that protect the motor when it is overloaded they are bi-metal and when heated break the circuit .souds like it is in a bind or lockup for some reason probably the mast got F-ed and is locked.it will self destruct if you keep it plugged in

I've never left it plugged in as I know something bad is bound to happen with it constantly clicking like that trying to do something. Any way to unbind it without pulling the fender. I thought about trying to force the antenna down but haven't as I'm happy its in the up position. Just disappointing to spend $200 for something that worked 5 times.

I would spray it with WD-40 and try to help it manually go down. Hopefully the motor will take over and it will continue to go down on its own.

i would turn it to go DWN and pull up on the mast and see if you unbind the nylon wand and then reliese and see if it goes on DWN

Nope, still not working and I'm not taking the fender off again. I guess I learned a $200 lesson on Power Antennas.

I might have a spare power antenna laying around somewhere if you decide to try to replace again. For a good price.

you do know you dont have to take the fender off I can get one out in about 10-15 minutes

If you can remove the antenna again, and follow the lower photo on the PDF file, and connect the wires to see if the antenna goes up or down, and if not then send it back for a replacement.

TO LOWER

HAVE YOU CONTACTED BRIAN AT G-BODY? I'M SURE HE WILL SEND YOU ANOTHER,IT IS A PIA TO CHANGE.. THE UNIT IS REBUILT,LIKE ANYTHING ELSE,SOMETIMES THINGS HAPPEN..I'M SORRY FOR YOUR TROUBLE,IF YOU WERE CLOSE TO PITTSBURGH I WOULD CHANGE IT FOR YOU... BEST WISHES..

Yes, and they said to send it back but frankly I just don't want to remove the fender. The car was in an accident so the fender had to be replaced anyway so I got a new antenna and had the body shop install it. It worked for a day and then stopped. I really appreciate the offer but I've just accepted defeat, lol.

Takes 15 minutes to remove without removing the fender. Open the door all the way. Take out all the bolts on the fender near the door includong the big one on the underneath. Without looking Inthink they are all 10 mm except the one underneath. Take the nut off the top of the antenna. Tie a string on the antenna plug and feed it through the hole in the inner fender. Pry the bottom of the fender off by the door and drop the antenna out the bottom.

The string is to pull the new connector through when you get the new antenna.

2 of the bolts on the fender by the door hold the antenna mounting bracket, it's pretty obvious which 2.

My original antenna lasted 12 years, the second 10 and I rebuilt it with the new plastic part. That only lasted 6 months and needs to be redone. Pretty easy job though. I think it took longer to write this than actually do it.
