Recommended Turbo?!?

well my turbo is now a bug fogger it emits soo much oil through the seal i believe... alot of shaft play... is the stock turbo still

i will be driving my car on the street quite a bit but not everyday...
major mods include... ported heads, 206-206 cam, ported intake, 3" THDP, will have 009s

also everything listed in my sig.

i was also planning on stepping up to a bigger torque converter if necessary but would still like to get decent MPG as well as possibly 11.60s or so...
i was also planning on getting a new intercooler as well as building my shortblock up since i have some rod knock right now and need to redo it all anyways...


so what is recommended? are the new GT series turbos pretty good?
will i need to upgrade my injectors as well to run 11s? and by mid 11s i was thinking best day, best conditions and a hard launch... not mid 11s all the time if you know what i mean... more like a consistant low 12 car

is a TE-44 enough for this... i would like more but dont know much about what is good for what

My vote goes for a TE-60 and a 3000-3200 stall. You should go with bigger injectors too, like the high z 57's.

009s would be fine with a 44 or a 60. I had them with my old TE-60 and still have them with my TE-63-1. I have run over 21 psi with a race chip and still ran rich. I plan on turning up the boost as high as the alky kit will allow when my tranny gets rebuilt. I also have the ported heads with bigger valves, .030 over rebuilt engine , CC 206/206 with an ESP front mount and full 3" exhaust from the turbo back so I know it's flowing alot of air.

I agree 009's might be enough for a 44 or 60. I suggested the 57's for the mere fact that the 009's have a tendency to be rich down low and go lean up top.
I also figured, if you don't want to mod the computer, why not run the biggest injector possible so you don't have to upgrade again? (hence the 57's)

ahh very well

i too have ported heads intake and CC 206... to maximize all this with a turbo would it be best to get a FMIC or a stock location one? i currently have a stock one on there and was looking at FM's but there are very very expensive and just wondering if that is really needed or if a 15 row stock location is good... and what type of differences would i see between the 2 types with say the 60 turbo and the 57 injectors...

would a FMIC have a little more lag yet be able to run slightly higher boost?

that is what i would imagine but i am just thinking about it and have no real world knowlege and that is why i ask everyone else

Probably ethier/or in your situation. For your ET goals, neither would out perform the other. The stock location would probably be cheaper than the FM. The front mount may have cooling issues depending upon the climate in your area. On the other hand, the stock location may get heat soaked if you street race. My vote would be a stock location.

2800-3000 stall and a TE60 or 3000-3200 stall and the TE61 will get you where you want to be.

The TE61 will be more fun on the street though!

I love my Te-61! Awsome on the street and can go mid 10s. I have a 3100 stall and it rips out of the hole. Same price, mo power! I have 009s and a seventh shooter. Thats all you need. 11.4 with a 1.60 60'.....only 24psi....stock heads/motor/suspension.
