38lbs or 40lbs, DId a search and got a few people saying 38lbs....

Do you have the numbers on these injectors, I would like to see if they are the same as mine. I think I saw a post from Chuck that the so called 40s did not flow 40.

I'll get the numbers, It's funny you say that cause i sent mines out to be flowed and cleaned and they flowed at 38lbs....

The number is 5208008. Does it match yours,

I had them flowed and it rated at 38psi but i was always told red stripe were 40. If what b231v6 is saying is true then that could clear up some things up...

Chuck flowed a set I bought from him a week ago and they were 40.2 lbs. at 43.5 PSI FP. I think it varies from 38-40 lbs. These are 008's.

How does it affect when you go get a chip burned and you say you have 40lb and really flow 38???? Does this make a difference???

Thanks

D3165AA and 621037
These are my Lucus #s. I think yours are the 38s.

I bought my Lucas 38# inj. from PTE with a JL chip. The receipt from PTE says Red Stripe Inj. on it. My numbers are the same as ES1's numbers D3165AA and 621037. Heck I am running a Thrasher chip for Bluetops and the car is running great. It idles and spools better than the chip that came with the inj.'s. The inj. also have another number on the very top flat spot that reads 2481 on some and 2471 on others. I guess the mystery goes on.
Thanks
Tim

Thanks for the responces. This good info to know as i'm tuning my may car.

On gnttype it says (Lucas (Red Stripe) 5208008 40.1 lbs/hr)
That matches the number i have but mined flowed at 38...

Since we are on the topic of these injectors, what chips are you guys using? I have a Lubrant chip that seems to be working pretty good with these, but I bought a Red Armstrong 93 and 107 chip. The 93 is so rich at idle that my car won't hardly idle with it. I haven't tried the 107 yet because of fuel needs. Think my Reds chips are for 40# red stripes, but I'm sure these are 38lbrs. Think this might be the cause of the super richness?

I run a Jay Carter chip and I also run rich. I have seen a post by one one the gurus that Lucas injectors have a tendency to be rich.

If they are the Lucas "red stripes" old style from years back, I'd use them as fishing weights! I had these on my car about 8 years ago up until about 3 years ago, and they were horrible for street manners and tunability! They shoot one large stream of fuel, like a garden hose, and run extremely rich down low, but lean up high. I actually got rid of them and replaced them with the conical spray 36# (blue tops), which allowed me to run considerably better ET's, and much more fun to drive. I'm sure there are some people who have had success with these red stripes, but per my own experiences as well as others I know, they just aren't the hot ticket anymore.
Unfortunately, I do not have the part numbers, because after two went bad on me, I decided to throw the others away and go with the 36#'s. Again, I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes here, but this is the results I experienced, and the actions I took. Hope you figure out what'll work for you...

I wouldn't worry about the difference between 38 and 40. This could be a difference between the pressure they were flowed at. The gnttype site says they were flowed at 45psi. Most flow tests these days are at 43psi. This could make up some of the difference.
The 621037 is the modern replacement for the old 008 redstripes and are also called redstripes sometimes. Either way, they both flow about 38-40# static and both can be rich at idle depending on chip calibration.

I'm thinking about switching injectors also. These are ok, and they would probably work for what I want to do, but I would like to have a little more tunability, and get rid of this rich idle. I think I'm going to go with 009's, and have my Red's chips reprogammed for them.
