I know this has been spoken about a lot of times but my question is how much do you actually gain and after you do install it how does it work , where does the alky spray into how do you activate it how long could a bottle last, all of those type of question ( already did a search and didn't find what i was really looking for) any other type of info would be great as well thanks again guys.

In my years of doing it
Adds about 10 octane points to the fuel
There's several ways to trigger it.
1. Use the digital dash map sensor, according to the instructions on GNTTYPE.ORG.
2. If you have a manual boost controller, you can use the wastegate solenoid to turn it on (and then re-program the chip so that it only comes on starting at 4000 RPM under boost, for example)
3. Manual switch
4. Maybe TPS?

A quart probably lasts for something like 15 1/4 mile passes. It really depends on your jet size and requirements. For example, I run a NOS .024 jet in the winter and a .028 jet in the summer. (I have the home made kit)

I don't regret installing it. Well worth the $125 it cost me to build.
With 91 octane, I can run ~21 PSI on the street without a problem.

I typically run the 70/30 rubbing alcohol.

So the jet is what is spraying the alky sort of like a fuel injector? where is spraying the alky though like where would i install it on the engine
thanks a lot for the info.

Well let me see if I can answer some of the questions you have.

How much will you gain. This all depends on your combination, chip and tunning. All of these combined with the alky will increase greatly. example in point is my daily driver. This car is a stock engine tranny rearend. The only mods are fuel pump, 009's, reds 107 race chip, K&N and a hooker exhaust gutted cat. I have so far run 21 pounds of boost on pump gas and run a traction limited 12.80. 2.2 60 '. The car has more in it with traction. At this level I have no detonation and some more on tap if I need. I will also mention that this is with 94 sunoco and a 50/50 mix alky and water.

I run this setup all the time. I never go to a street chip anymore and I check my alky bottle with every fill up along with oil and minor inspection under hood.

Most kits spray the alky just infront of the TB usually in the up pipe. That is where I have mine.

My kit is activated by a boost pressure switch or HOBBS switch. Mine comes on at 10 PSI of boost.

My bottle of alky will last depending on my driving. If using it for usual daily driving it will last 2 to 4 tank fulls of gas or more. I have gotten a month out of a tank of alky. Now if I am out lurking, it does not last that long. Again all depends on driving and tunning.

I built a DIY kit using easliy aquired over the counter parts. I did this as an experiment. So far after 6 months the experiment has worked very well and I will keep it. I do do regular inspections on the up pipe and clean the IC. Some times some alky lays in the bottom. Other than this I am very happy and will continue to use it for its great tunning ability. Besides them stock Cobras will still lose to this thing. Even some lightly modded ones do. If you want more info just ask.

Thanks for the info guys..
Iam contemplating if i should install it or not, might want to do a few more things before that but looks like a fun thing to have ;)

Here's my piddly little take on it. Alky is fantastic on a daily driver. You can run moderate boost levels at any time without race gas and O2 failures. If you primarily run at the track, then race gas may be the thing. I run about 20lbs in street mode, and push 22 lbs at the track with a street chip, on a single nozzle SMC. I love it!

thanks a lot for the info.

It's not pulsed like an injector. It's either pump on or off.
Like someone mentioned, in the up-pipe close to the throttle body, but you aim the stream away from the throttle body to get better atomization.

The only thing I dont see in your sig is an exhaust system. Otherwise you are ready to go

DO IT NOW

Well if iam gonna get nasty lol i just open my dumper and let er rip i feel the car is a whole other beast with the dumper open, but iam about to buy a 3" exahust with dual ultra flow mufflers. i love noise :D

Joe--What torque converter do you have with the TA-61? How is lag? Thanks.

Honestly that is my next thing iam saving up for so close yet so far with christmas here iam putting a vigilante converter in with art carr shift kit, right now there is some lag nothing to bad but i really dont beat on the car, iam thinking around 3200 stall. great turbo though i mean as soon as i did that with the IC i saw a crazy power diff

There is a wee bit more than what has been said.

See alcohol injection is basically a pump, nozzle, container, and electronics.

Its purpose is to mist the intake air with a fog that reduces the air temperature coming into the motor..kinda like a bigger IC, and it aids in the combustion process, making for more of a complete burn. Whether alcohol, water, or a mix depends on preferences.. and users beliefs/theories. I personally run 100% methanol alcohol in my own car.

For a mild 12 second car, a simple hobbs switch system is/has been effective. When you start needing to really blow volume through the motor, run really high boost, this is where things change.

Do some reading in the alky section of this board, there is some good reading. If you need anything..ask :)

Ahhhhh making sense now everybody thanks a lot.
Iam thinking if i do get it which is a good possibility iam thinking of the hobbs switch cause i want to turn it on when i want to, and plus it looks kick ass in the motor compartment ;)
