Gotta SERIOUS cracks in BOTH sides of my manifolds...( Drivers side usual place, Pass side close to the turbo....)
I gotta friend that will weld them up next week.

3" Dp have to come completely out? It was welded to the cat flange, so does the car have to be on a lift to get the DP out???

Thanks in advance :D

Just unbolt it from the turbo & pull it to the side. That'll give u enough space to remove it...u don't need a lift just some stands. HTH.

The DS is notorious for repeatedly cracking. I welded a piece of flat bar between the 3 and 5 primaries to brace it and haven't had problems since. If you have an old head laying around take it to the welder and bolt the header up so the heat doesn't pull the flanges out.

I would also take a good straight edge and lay it across the flanges when you get them back to see if they are true. If not....a belt sander will do wonders:cool:

Sounds good!!! So, crossover pipe, unbolt DP, and just the bolts for manifolds, should slide out out from the bottom?? No exhaust gaskets??

Thanks again,

Matt

I had a gasket installed after the repair just to be on the safe side. Kirban's has some in their catalog.

I've had great luck with Remflex exhaust manifold gaskets. Even if your flanges are not perfectly straight. Felpros seem to burn through on my car.

good luck.

+1 on 1400's. You can get them at Oreilys. I still use a thin layer of copper rtv. Mine do NOT leak...ever.

Get some PB blaster (any parts store) and let it sit on the crossover bolts for as long as you can...trust me. It will make life easier. After they break...go to some WD40 or other oil to aid removal

Again...save yourself a headache...check for a true flat surface across the flanges after the welds.

Flat surface

+1 on the flat surface. After a couple of welding jobs I had to have the flange sanded to get it flat and not leak.
