How do you remove it? I'm swapping dashes and need to take it off.

I just don't want to do it the wrong way...anyone have the steps/procedure?

Your going to need to buy a kit to remove the steering wheel. There are some multiple use kits that are steering wheel/bearing puller kits and any of those will do. I'm not sure specifically for regals but after u get past the horn there should be a shaft with a large nut on it. Remove the nut. Then u are goin to use the puller kit. Read the instructions but it will tell u to use availible bolt holes around the shaft on the steering wheel itself. You will thread bolts through the puller mechanism into the bolts in the wheel. Then there is a shaft that comes with the kit that fill press against the actual shaft on the car. This will evenly pull the steering wheel off without damaging ur car.

Also maybe u could go under the dash and there should be a set of bolts that attach the steering coloumn to the dash. When u remove those it should drop the steering wheel assembly a good six inches to move it out of your way...

Hope this helps,
David

If you have (or know someone that has) a balancer puller, you can use that as well. You just need a couple bolts to go into the hub, through the puller. ;)

Also, there are only 2 allen bolts that hold the horn ring on, so don't go and put an allen wrench to one of the fake allen bolts or you'll be looking for a horn ring. The electrical connector for the horn pushes in and twist, don't just pull on it. There is a snap retainer that keeps the nut on the steering wheel stud.

why do you need to pull the steering wheel to swap dashes?
if you don't have a puller, it would probably be easier to drop the column- 2 big 15mm nuts right under the dash, a few 10 mm bolts where the column goes thru the firewall, and you can drop the column down far enough to do whatever you need to do to the dash.
if you are just putting in acluster, you shouldn't need to do anything to the steering column or wheel- just put the shifter (if column shift) in L1 and do what you gotta do.

swapping out the 84 dash for a 87 one....might be able to just lower it, but i don't wanna break anything

those two big bolts at the base of the steering column, do they come out or just loosen to bring down the steering wheel?
