SignUp Now!I mean the outer door handle?Remove the top half of the door panel, then remove the handle.
It's a pair of nuts on the inside of the door that releases the handle. The clips just push over with your finger. If you happen to break one, and indestructible replacement can be made out of safety wire or just grab a box off the HELP! section.
The inner handle is much more of a PIA. It requires drilling out rivets and the entire panel has to come off.
How do you undo the linkage? I got the 2 nuts off which were 11mm. This process is suh a pain in the ass for me, I don't have big hands but its hard to get on the nuts, and you can't use a rachet.I'd remove them. why sand and paint around them when you don't have to?
you're talking about the outside door handles right?Flat head screwdriver behind the clip and pull it down. The rod should just pop out once the clip is off. It sucks. I just went through all of this swapping all the insides of my old doors to my new ones
I have beat the shit out of those clips trying to get things separated. They'll be fine.you're talking about the outside door handles right?
I just wasn't sure if I should just pull the lock/latch mechanism to remove the rod from that and keep it attached to the door handle still, that way I don't break the clip, and I don't have to struggle blind up in the door. I'm just worried about re-aligning the latch/lock mechanism once its pulled? Anyone ever do this?
