Any proper procedures, tricks, or warnings when taking the parts off the roof and window openings?

Planning on stripping the paint - fixing the rust - paint and new seals/weather stripping.

Thanks for any ideas on the topic

I dont have t-tops :( but i just stripped my car a couple of weeks ago and i took out the rear quater windows. to take them out first take out most of the screws from the inner rear pannel. there are some in the doos jam 1or2 on the side of the bottom of the rear seat (have to take out first) then there is one on the coat hanger thingey. the the plastic piece should be able to move enough to give you room to get at the 5 10mm(one on topand 2 on ethier sides) nuts remove them the push on the window from the inside there is gonna be a lot of sealer on it ( you need two people to do this) make sure there is someone on the outside to catch it incase if it falls. when you have the window about 6-8 inches from the car make sure you cut the seales with a razor kiife, razor blade so it wont get on car or window pain to come off

If you need any tips on stripping your car please PM me I will be glad to help :D Good Luckl

Steve take your top plates out first then the center rail.
(4 screws per side)
Then strip your A & B pillars. The the front 2 trim pieces then the rear single long piece.Heat gun & patience are your friend :)

Thanks for the tips!
Are all those plates just screwed in and then maybe some of the trim/weather seal adhesive sticking some of it to the body? I guessing the heat gun is used to soften the adhesive??

I hate the strange clips that are used on various places on our cars - this is one of the few places that I have not dug into and don't know what or how it is put together.

Got some water getting in somewhere. I cannot tell where it is entering but I see it soaking the front and top several inches on the upper passenger side door panel :( so I am sure I am in for some - something when I get into it.

The plates are screwed in & yes it has a double sided tape.Just plan on seeing some rust if your all ready getting water in the car.
Once you start turning back isn't easy!!!!
