Hey all. Newbie here. Well I got myself a 86 Regal that I'm in the process of tearing out the Heater box and putting the A/C delete panel in its place. I got everything unscrewed under the hood and i can wiggle it around but the other half thats behind the dash wont come out. I really dont want to tear the dash out to take it out but i dont know of any other options. My chiltons manual isnt helping me any. What do i need to do behind the dash to get it out?

If I recall there are a few wires and a cable that run to the climate control. Also you need to go through the top of the heater box to disconnect some items. It's been a few years but hope that helps.

There is a brace behind the dash the A/C parts need to come around. Did you take the screw and large washer out to seperate from A/C box from the upper ductwork? Also helps to take the inner fender out to give the box some room to move around.

Inner fender

+2

+2 Inner fender out or you can't wiggle her out. A sawzall works great!

I did such a awesome job on mine until I got to the point where you are at. Then I got frustrated because I couldn't see what was keeping it in and hacked it all to rat sh it. Patience back then was definately not one of my strengths.

Just removed one with Randy. It came out without a scratch, sold it to a board memeber.

The engine was out, as well as the fender well. Once the inside connections were undone and it began to wiggle, we noticed it was still being hung by some vacuum lines and wiring. Other than that it slid right out.

Just take your time, and it really helps to have two people on it.
