I've been driving this truck around for 6 months now and I get stopped and the cop says the front winshield is tinted... I said it is a little tinted, that's the way it came, I didn't have any tint installed on it..with all the fancy things new cars do these days I just assumed the glass tinted very slightly, its not even something I even noticed when test driving the dam thing.
We look a little closer and scrapped the inside corner and sure enough it does have a film on it. Since it came from Cali they probably allow it there the officer stated, he understood it was purchased out of state.
He writes me a warning and told me to have it off by next week..this was Monday.
I'll be dam, I get stopped again today in a different city for it, this time the azz gives me a ticket after I told him I didn't even know it had a film on it till just Monday when I got stopped and it was coming off this weekend.
Anyway, now I got to drive to BFE and show the dam city clerk the tint has been removed..

It ought to be real fun removing tint from the front windshield!

We stopped enforcing the tinted window statute long ago. 95% of the cars on the road have illegal tint. It was like shoveling chit against the tide cause every car has them. The problem is the fines are not steep enough.

They are a benifit to the criminal, but they are also a benifit to the law abiding citizen. It makes the cops job much more dangerous tho and they cant see inside the car when it comes at them when they are looken 4 a suspect. But it also keeps the car jackers away at lights when they dont know how many people are in the car. U got screwed 4 sure.

This is tint that I and everyone else that has been in it didn't even notice it was tinted until something was said about it. I think my wife noticed it on about the 3rd day driving it home that it looked slightly tinted.
Then when the registration and emission sticker were put on the windshied you could tell they were a bit darker when viewed from the outside...CA doesn't have any stickers that must be displayed.

I guess it depends where you live cause in Baltimore im told any tint is illegal. But in TX its so dam hot so im suprised they care

Rob,

Call me in the morning and I will give you the tips on the removal of the tint to where the film and the biggest majority of the glue will come off the first time.

Sweet! Love the Grand Canyon shot. How was the mileage on the trip? I know my Hemi Ram sucks it down can only imagine the SRT motor with a supercharger!

It gets a whole 13-14 on the highway, 9-10 average driving around town  It the mpg meter reads 10 or higher I feel good around town
It tows like a beast, towed the hardtop TTA home from Iowa a few weeks ago, I had to keep checking the mirror to make sure the trailer was still back there!

I have used the ammonia, black trash bag, and sun method before. It works well but I never tried it on the windshield.

And I bitch because my '69 Vette gets 12-13 mpg.....now I feel better:tongue: Glad I'm not the only one who's suffering:rolleyes:

By the way.....beautiful SRT. Man, wish I could afford one...it's just beautiful!

Thanks Bruce for the compliments. You'd be surprised what some of these sell for right now. With 19k on the clock when I bought it in July, I paid less for it than I did for my '94 Silverado new back in '94..not to mention the $9k worth of supercharger, upgraded fuel pumps, and tuning that came with it!
Course I pay for it in gas, but I normally still drive the old truck every day.

You're welcome...you deserve the compliment. The truck is the most beautilful I've seen yet....just right (and red being my favorite color)...and of course, the performance factor is to be applauded. Nothing beats high performance engineering....smart move buying it with the supercharger and the tuning set up...bet it just screams when you turn it loose!

I dunno, the prices are still a bit too high for me at this time. But, when I see an SRT like yours, my head starts to spin. Excuse me now, I'm going to go check my MegaMillion lottery tickets.

In CA you cannot tint the windshield or front side windows legally. My wifes TBird side windows were tinted at the dealer and I'm surprised she has never been stopped for it. They tend to make the kids remove it more than us nursing home escapes. Cops in the desert areas may be more lenient than here in Orange County due to the heat. I bought a 20yo one owner car from Victorville (high desert) and it has dark tint everywhere but the windshield, PITA to drive at night.

looks like 35% in the ws,thats why they picked you out.....i do 50% on the ws with a 5% visor strip and the cops don't notice...very nice with the tint on the ws....helps with glare and heat off dash.
FYI ; % number is the amount of light/heat let IN....(not the best technical, but in laymens terms)
