Can anyone comment on their experiences with the replacement hinges offered through kirban and the "genuine" GM hinges that highway stars sell. Kirbans are much cheaper than the GM parts. This is an area that obviously gets a lot of use and if there is a substantial difference in quality I would like to hear about it if anyone can comment.

I didn't know anyone actually sold them new. I rebushed my DS upper back around 98 and haven't thought about it since.

I can't imagine the quality between the two would matter much. It's just a steel pin riding in a steel plate.

To give you a heads up: The ones we sell (Kirban) are identical to probably any of the others as unless I am wrong currently only one company maks them and supplies allthe others meaning not just the G body Regals but the G body Monte Carlos etc which all use the same hinges.

As to original GM as it has been stated I don't believe they are available any more and yes they were very costly.

We have not had any issues with the aftermarket ones...

X2

Not to take food out of any of the vendors mouths...but if you're feeling motivated...
You can pick some up at the junkyard and rebuild them at your convenience.

MikeE had a good post on his rebuild - although probably more than your run of the mill pin and bushing job.
