Just like title says, may have to replace this line(fuel pressure will not lower past 49lbs).did a search found that the reccomened line is a 6AN.
Question is,what is the easist way of running the line? What fittings do i need?

anybody have any pics of how they ran their return lines?
thanks

well,I disconected the pressure reg and the line where it meets up to the tank lines.took some carb cleaner and blew out the line.
does not seem to be clogged up.carb cleaner blew everywhere.more on this a couple posts down.Really dont understand this.

Just got my rebuild going and realize that I have same problem. Fuel pressure will not go down. Not seeing any kinks in return line. Car has sat more than 1 1/2 years. How hard is it to replace both lines?

Took regulator off of my 84 and no change. Tried to look for kinked lines from putting motor back in and don't see anything.

A few months ago I was talking to Heath Elmer about my '86 and he said the one thing he should have done was to have run a #8 return line.

I guess it depends on how modified your car is though.

mike,
try taking the FPR off and blowing compressed air down the return line, with the gas cap off you should hear air rushing out of the tank.If you dont then the return is clogged for sure.

I am going to replace both my lines with braided, only because of the rust issue.

First place to check on the return line after finding a blockage is under the power steering pump where the large line necks down at the fitting to 1/4".

Easy to get blocked up at that point. :(

Detach the fitting and try some soft or hard iron wire down there to probe for clogs. Usually right at the junction however so you don't have to snake far.

I had about 60psi. fuel pressure for two months a few years back.

I will check that first junction. If I do find out that there is a spot kinked where it runs under the motor, how do you repair? Can you splice it. What kind of cost to run braided?

You can splice the send and return line with fuel injection rated hose, either rubber or braided rubber or even braided teflon if you don't have to go around any sharp bends.

Double clamp it with fuel injection clamps.

Obviously, the feed and return lines are different sizes.

Steel braided type is best since plain rubber is a no no after a couple of feet or so via NHRA rules.

Not that they ever bothered to look under my cars yet. :p

Beats trying to snake new hard line in there.

I`m going thru the same problem now, my pressure will not go down, it`s running at 80psi on start up...and i can not adjust it..stays the same but i found the problem it was a bent fuel line..i splice and repair back to normal:D
