I have a PTS tranny and 9X11 conv. My spec sheet says approx 2800 stall. I wanted enough conv for a PT52-54 turbo. Is that enough stall? It spools the stk turbo very fast. I am pulling the engine for a performance build, should I send it back for the free restall to 3200 or so while the engine is out?

What was the stall when you had it installed? Just because it says 2800 on the build sheet doesn't mean that is what it is. There are more horror stories about convertors not doing what they are supposed to, I am not saying your manufacture is the case, but he will probably want to know how it is doing before he tweaks it more.

stall

PTS built my tranny and tested it and my new conv in test car before shipping to me. My spec sheet has the line pressures and what the conv stall was.

If you go with a PTE54 or a TA/TE62/63 turbo you will want 3200 min. stall so I say do it.

3200 also works with BB large turbos too. :)

Good street stall option as well assuming a lockup version.

I am running a PTE54 with the 9X11 3200 stall, its just right for it. I ran a 2800 with my 51 and it was fine, no experience with a 52/53.

3200

That's what I was thinking. When I filled out my conv sheet I put that I had a stk turbo but was upgrading to a 52-54 in short order but I guess that got lost in the shuffle!
Thanks guys!

In my opinion, if you are using a lock up converter, why not go a little higher on the stall. Like around 3500-3700? It will make a little more heat at the stop lights, but it will spool better. Hopefully you have a good tranny cooler.

I wanted a 3000 but got a 2800"for my combo" which was about to change as I put in my spec sheet "stk turbo but going to a PT 52-52 soon". Waiting on a reply from PTS.
