Retard or Advance?

I get about 3.5° of knock if I just floor it from idle.

I have the Translator+ and Extender chip, but don't remember if I should advance the timing or retard the timing.

My settings are: On, On, Off, Off, 3, 3, 0, E

I changed the Base Spark to 2° Retard and it seemed to make a difference, but I have not had a chance to get on it from idle.

The settings are now: On, On, Off, Off, 3, 3, F, E

With the 3,3,0,E setting your timing is retarded 4 degrees as soon as you top ~3400 rpm.

With the change to 3,3,F,E you have retarded the base timing map by 2 degrees, and the additional 4 degrees of retard for WOT means that you're retarded a total of 6 degrees when you go over 3400 rpm.

Remember, WOT timing is algabraically added to the BASE timing setting.

Dave, yes I remember that, but didn't change the WOT setting yet.

The car seems to run better, but I have not had the chance to do a blast from idle yet.

It looks like I am going in the correct direction to reduce the low end knock of 3.5°

Got two pretty good blasts in this morning. One from a roll and one from a dead stop.

I didn't get any knock until the shift points and then the first one was 1.5° and the second shift was at .5°.

No I don't know what the boost is set at, but it's probably somewhere between 13 to 15.

I still have the 6° accumulative at WOT.

Got any idea of what the base timing is in your extender? I forgot which one you had.

I think it is 21° (19° in high gear). I have two of these and they are very similar. One has the anti-theft and the other one does not.

I just need to find the data slip for the one installed.

I'm really surprised you're getting that much knock with the 21/19 chip. Ahh, just seen your earlier post, not knowing what the boost is. GOT TO KNOW that before we decide what's really happening.

That and the wonderful gas you have to use out there.

91 Octane, but don't know the boost. I may not be able to take it out on Sunday, but will on Monday.
