hello people; How many of you turboheads got RO by another member here? On another site a RO post was made and it made me think of my situation. I got RO for $100.00 and that's probably alot less than what others have been RO for but it was still a RO. No names just facts. Too bad there are members here like that. No questions about how it happened just post your RO.

Well in Nov 2013 I agreed on a price for a turbo I had for sale. Even took a loss on it for him. Story of being only income kids, wife in college etc. we agreed on a price, the boy sent half, I went ahead and sent the turbo. I kno I know. My fault. But I thought it was ok. We agreed on a price and agreed on half payments and he sent a little more than half. Thought was doing ok thing. So anyway as the story goes, he told me he sent other half. Waited, nothing. Called several times, nothing. Texted couple times nothing. Texted him I was gonna involve the law. Got response. Said he was in guard for training, that's why he didnt answer phone. Stated he would resend money. Guess what, it's Feb 2014. Still no money, still doesn't answer phone. I sent him text to send me turbo back I would gladly refund his cash. But I never have heard anything. Don't know if I want to go thru the hassle of involving outside sources or just eat it. Lessoned learned I guess. But there has to be compromise from both sides.

If you get ripped off by someone in the military you can get their chain of command involved.

I would post the losers' name on here and every other TR site to warn
anyone that might be dealing with him in the future!

I agreed to terms of sale for an engine harness out of a low mile GN. Seller raised the price on me after I agreed to his terms and after he confirmed the deal b/c he had more interest than he thought he would get. I ended up paying too much, but I do have a nice spare harness. Haven't been RO'd too bad yet, but I'm generally cautious. I'll pay the extra 3% to use Paypal as goods and services just so I know I can get my money back if someone tries to F' with the Stig. It sucks that a man's word isn't what it used to be. With some men it still is; just not as many men as it once was.

I blame the internet. It's easier for liars to lie when they are not face to face and don't see others as real people.

In my case I am in IL, he is in ME. Long ways apart. That's why I am on the fence about it.
It sucks and thats a disadvatage of forum shopping. When you calculate all the time.effort etc its not even worth it especially if the outcome is not 100% favorable in your favor...

That's why I will protect myself and usually only buy from people that have been on the board a while...

Only way to be fair is if the site had a 3rd party do the exchange lol

Luckily all of the turbobuick.com people here that I have bought and sold to have been legitimate, true and reliable in all the transactions I've made. Which are about 6 times or so over the years. I always check their past posts and threads and how long they have been members. So far so good.

hello people; In my case the member's on the leftish coast (a long way from Mass.) and a legitimate member here (so that don't mean much in my situation) so that's about it. But I'm all Italian and we forget this type of thing. I know he's reading these posts and I hope he gets some of his own medicine one day.
have fun

yes have been a member for alittle bit and have bought all of my parts on this forum and the only thing that didnt work out for me was acoil and module that i bought about 2 years ago but never check it. till i needed to see if the one in the car now was bad this week.when i put it in backfire and all.so i put the old one back in .but that was my bad i should have checked it .other than that every other part worked out .and yessss always check feedbacks and do your homework..ps pretty sure if i had checked the coiland module when i got it and found that it was bad the person i got it from would have made it right because he is a well known person on this site thanks have a greatday.

Not any more he’s not!

That is if he is outed.

I’ve bought well over 100 items on here over the years. I’ve only had a few bad/shady transactions.

In the end the outcome wasn’t that bad. Because I took it to the feedback forum after they weren’t cooperating.

Some of these transactions were from long time members. It’s crazy that people that have been on here for years try to pull some shady shit.

Also, any time I’ve sold anything on here and a member wanted a refund I gave them their money back.

It’s happened a few times with about 100 items sold.

D

ive been hosed twice here.... but for the deals i have gotten over the years on other stuff, its normal to have some bad with the good.

This is true.
When I was younger in the Army I had a situation involving my car. My 86 ttype actually. I was backing out of a parking spot at the px when a military wife, not paying attention decided to back up also and even though I layed into the horn, she was blasting the music and not paying attention. She crumpled my quarter. It was ugly. She claimed her husband (engineer battalion) had gone to fight fires just that morning and would be back in a few weeks. I took her info and she took mine.

Her husband, some piece of crap E-5 or 6 I can't recall came to see me. (He was in the battalion next to mine)- I showed him the damage and quotes for repair and he agreed to pay me a little from each paycheck... He gave me one payment and then nothing... I called his unit and they told me he had pcs'd to Germany. I guess he thought he was slick.

Luckily, I had some friends at 3Corps who tracked down his unit and I let my CSM contact his CSM... Needless to say, it was not a good first impression to make at his new unit...
Every payment was then delivered from his CSM to mine and I got the car fixed!

As far as issues here. Never had any.

It would be nice if they brought back the feedback numbers by peoples avatars - like ebay. It's just for quick reference.
I think the feedback info is much more useful than "likes received"... Just my .02

Yup, and if that persons chain of command doesn't want to deal with it you keep moving up till it is...if its not solved by a commander and his boss finds out its not good on him...

I think in general most sales/interactions go well (new here but experience most other type places). I do believe though that technology and being able to tap into resources from far and wide has it's advantages but also it's downsides. Namely getting RO'd and having no real recourse.
