Hi All,

I seem to remember reading somewhere about using a wider bearing set in the con rods. I have found the stock shells (CB1228P) show a width of 0.659" and CB1443P shells from an early '90's supercharged 3.8L that are 0.721" wide. These shells are 0.062" wider and should fit, just not sure where the tangs end up... Has anyone tried this? If they'll fit the rods, can't see it mattering as our cranks have a fillet instead of a chamfer...

Yes, I've installed those wider bearings. In fact, I stuck a set in my El Camino, but I also installed and ran them in my Red Regal T. ;)

Agreed. I have a set of those wider bearings in my present 109

OK, thanks! I'll get my machinist to order the CB1443P set.

Just don't try to go 0.030" under with the wider bearings. The fillet is 0.025" under. Going 0.030" under will cause the fillet to be a chamfer.
