Hello all. It's been a while since I've posted. I'm getting ready to rebuild an 86 GN engine and just took two short blocks apart to see which cranks, rods, block looked better to see what to send to the machine shop. When examining the rod caps on one engine, I noticed that on several rod caps where the bearing "tang" is, the metal on the cap had either worn through or didn't have a lot of material there. Has anyone heard of this before? I'm going to get some pictures on later today or tomorrow. On the other engine the rod caps all looked better. I didn't see any abnormal bearing or piston wear on the engine with the cap issues.
Thanks for the help.
