hey whats a safe ammount of allowable thrust on the positive roller thrust button (not the spring loaded one) for a roller cam? .015? .020?

or are people just throwing the cover on and if the cam slightly moves its good?

make sure the cover is dead flat where the cam button bearing runs , oE platic buttons will leave the surface high in the center and thats no good , have the cover spot faced flat
take out the shims on the roller bearing and install cam with the timing gear torque the cover with a gasket inplace and you can check the clearance with a dial indicator through the hole in the block , measure the shims with a caliper and add what you need to get in the ball park at .008-011 , when you retorque the gasket will crush a little more and you should be about .005-008,
