I trying to roll my rear fender lips so I don't get any tire rub. I started to do it the other day. When I started to roll it with the bat method it started to crack the paint, so I stopped. Anyone else come across this? I cut some slots about 2" apart and then tried to roll it and it started to crack the paint. WTF!!!

What is wrong with buying the correct rims with correct BS and tires to fit:D Tons of 9 second cars on 10" slicks. Hate to see a TR altered when not needed.

That's what im trying to do. Get the car ready to notch the rear frame and put a 4-1/2" or 5" off set wheel. Im still afraid that it's going to rub the lip on the rear fender. If it won't then I wont mess with it.

Anyone else run a 4-1/2 or 5" BS wheel and still have the rear fenders left stock?

Thanks in advance

Chris,

You can go to any body shop and have them do it. I dont know a price yet but a few of my friends have had it done and it turned out excellent. Be careful if you try doing it yourself. I rolled it slightly with the bat method but am going to a body shop to have it finished correctly.

Rolled upper lip

Chris,
I looked at what Red A. did with his GN and they trimmed the lip, it looked real nice. Might what to call RA and ask him about the proceedure he used. If the paint cracked it will have to fixed or it will rust out under the paint cracks. Hope this helps.:)

you should not have to roll the lips and you dont want to. new springs and 2 airbags. 3.5 back spacing on a 8.5 wheel work fine i have them with 12.5 x 28 x 15 et streets with rear drag schocks and 90/10 drags lifting the front and the rears dont rub at all  try not to roll the lips ruins the structure and CRACKS THE PAINT

Chris,

FWIW on my GN I run Weld Pro Stars 15x10 rim with a 4.5 BS with MT ET slicks 28x10.5x15's and they fit fine with no rubbing. I took pics for Louie Lopez and still have them if you want to see them. Just let me know.

Take care.

15 by 8 with 4.5 bs with 28/12.50 et streets and cleared unless lowered alot but does require frame notch

15 by 10 with 5.5 bs will put the tire in same place..

i actually still have slightly over an inch clearence to the frame now and i moved my stock wheel wells in also

Buicksx2,
If you have some pics to send me that would be great.

Im currently running 15x8 with 3-1/2 back space with 28x10.5x15 MT slick. I will rub right now if I don't have any air in the air bag. I want to drop the car about a 1" to 1.5". If I can drop the car and put the 15x10 with 4.5 or 5" BS wheel on there and not rub the outer fender without making modifications, then I won't mess with it.

Thanks guys
