Anyone carry new rubber straps that go around the gas tank? I already have new metal straps, just need the rubber pieces that go under them...or should I just cut my own material???

I used some Cork insulation tape I have around the shop that I use on refrigeration pipes. Its pretty durable stuff, made to take alot of abuse hot and cold. Also insulates and is very sticky on both sides. I would seriously doubt it would wear through. I used it on my TTA when I had the tank out with no problem at all. Heres a link to a similar one like I have :

Grainger Industrial Supply: Cork Tape,1/8 In T X 2 In W X 30 ft L 2YJ69

My 55 truck does not use the rubber straps, but I was planning on using electical arc proofing tape. The material is 30 mil thick and resist fluids and of course electricity to 50000v. I used that stuff to wrap roll bar padding, because it is non-adhesive. It comes in 1.5 to 3 inches wide. A 30 foot roll is probably in the range of $10-$25 dollars.
