Just watched "Forever Strong" movie about high school rugby team. Great, great movie. Anyway they use the "Maori haka" chant before a game to intimidate their opponents. This clip is from the real New Zealand rugby team. I would not want to face these guys on the rugby field after this.

Remember: Rugby is football without helmets and pads.

i tried watching Rugby a few times- i think it was rugby, anyways- and could not for the life of me figure out what the hell was going on.. they run around, throw the ball around, tackle each other randomly, try not to score, then they all pile up in a formation that looks like a turtle with 50 arms and legs, the ball pops out, and they start the running/tackling/not scoring cycle all over again.

I dont understand the game much either but I sure understand the intensity that these guys are putting out there BEFORE the game even gets started.

To put it in a simple form, cross football, soccer, and kill the guy with the ball you have a basic idea of how it's played. The group of guys hanging on to each other is called a scrum and it's kinda like a face off in hockey but everyone is involved instead of just 2.

we had a game like that when i was in grade school- only we called it "smear the queer". the "queer" was whoever happened to be holding the ball. i don't think there was any scoring, tho, or any teams for that matter- unless you count the bullies doing their best to put a hurting on the little guys who always seemed to wind up being the "queer"..
