I just bought a slider window for my S-10.

Any tips from those who have installed a slider window in the past?

What I might need for install (tools, material, etc)

Youll need:

Dish washing soap (liquid).
Small diameter twine (kite string usually isnt strong enough).
A helper.

Im guessing that the slider is for the 89 in your sig? If so then once you get the old window out take the new window and slather the weather strip thats around the window with the liq dish soap. You really only need soap on the inside lip of the side of the weather stripping that will be around the cab opening on the INSIDE of the cab so just slather the part of the weather stripping that will be in contact with the window opening in the cab. This is tough to explain but the soap is only used for a lubricant that wont make a huge mess like grease/oil/silicone will.

You'll understand what Im talking about once you start messing with it.

Next take your twine and cut off a ~10' piece and put this around the weather stripping of the window. You will be using it to pull the inner lip of the weather strip inside the cab so it needs to located against the inside of the weather stripping lip that will be inside the cab. Basically the same lip of the weather stripping that you put liquid soap on will be pulled inside the cab using the twine so the twine needs to be in the same location as the soap. Just be sure to leave enough extra twine hanging out once its positioned around the window so you can grab one end in each hand.

Finally while you get inside the truck facing the rear have your helper hoist the window into position but before they push it up against the cab you need to reach through the opening and get hold of the ends of the twine so you will have access to them once your helper has the window in position. Once the window is in position and tight against the cab opening you should be able to pull on the twine which will force the inside weather stripping lip inside the cab opening.

If youve ever watched anyone put in a windshield for an old school car then youve seen what Im talking about. If not then it may take some trial and error to figure out what Im talking about but I can promise you that it will have taken you longer to read the above than to install 2 or 3 rear glasses in a pick up once you do figure it out.

On the other hand if Ive completely confused you then you can prolly get a windshield/sunroof shop to install it for less than $20 or therebouts.

Thanks for the help..

If the shops around here install for $20 then something is wrong.

I am guessing more like $50 in the land of EXPENSIVE
