Ok well I got this car on a trade 87 buick T-Type, Im 26 and i always liked these cars growing up. I was wondering what are safe boost levels to run. I was into imports for along awhile and im wanting to try American muscle. My last car i built in my garage was a 400WHP turbo MR2 and i know these TRs can be really fast. I have Precision TE44 turbo, FPR, bigger injectors, chipped ECU, 3.5' DP with electronic cutout, Nitrous, Built T-350 trans and the car sounds so mean. But what are safe boost levels, I'm at 15psi at this moment on 91 octane. Can i raise the boost level? Car seems to be running rich also. I never shot the nitrous yet still looking into that and how safe that is on the motor. Thanks for all the help.

I personally have never used nitrous and don't plan on it. I wouldn't even think about the nitrous until you know that the car is in good working order.

You're not really going to see much more boost safely with 91 octane. Maybe 17lbs if you're lucky. If you're going to put a lot of miles on it then look into a meth injection and safely run around 22+lbs of boost. I prefer 110 leaded fuel and run 28lbs in my weekend warrior.

Biggest thing is to monitor what's going on. A scanmaster is a must and I highly recommend a wideband also.

Last thing is tune for zero knock. I've had my GN for 10 years and still haven't blown it up.

Thats a few off of the top of my head.

Congrats on the new car. Post some pics.

Awesome thanks for the information. i will look into all of that. I will post some pics and get this project rolling further. Im definity liking the feel of the car. Turnings not as good as im used to lol but the TQ is great.

With a 44, they start to really outrun a stock turbo at 20psi+ which requiers usually alky or race gas; some do it with big front mounts and careful timing, but alky is the safest/easiest way to get there without fowling the O2 sensor and still using pump gas, IMO.

X2 on the scanmaster and wideband with a turbotweak or Bob Bailey chip so you can control the air/fuel.

I've had my car for five years and haven't totally blown it up; I bent the rods but still drove it around and eventually to the shop. I also loved them as a kid and actually rode in my car when I was 10 and bought it from him 5 years ago. 50k miles, lots of 1/4 mile blasts, and TONS of rides on the street.

Also, if you buy good sway bar for the rear and have the rest of the suspension just solid ie: good shape, the handling is OK compared to what you are used to. My previous cars were good handling cars, much better than the Buick, but it's fun to really think about what direction the car is pointing before flooring it. TRs make you think about it more than any other car I've ever driven; mostly because at 20psi with a good converter, a 44 comes on hard/fast on the street, like no previous car I've owned. :)

Thanks for the tips guys. I will definity do the scanmaster and WideBan next, Then the Meth injection. As for suspention i have that beefed up with Eibach springs, Sway bars, Poly bushings, Drops spindles and some other reinforcements lol. But thanks for the Help! points me in a good direction.
