What is the most boost i can put on a stock 85 t-type with no intercooler. I just bought the car and dont know anything about it and dont want to blow it up.

My 84 T is pretty much stock except for a Joe Lubrant chip, hotwired 340 pump, cold air kit and a 237 regulator. I can get away with 17psi 0 knock on 91pump gas. If I go up to 18, it knocks above 6degrees. I consider mine pretty stock because you should install a new fuel pump and hotwire it anyway.

Get a boost gage and scan tool and you can find out how much boost is safe.

17 psi and 0 knock? Damn.....ive never been able to do that on my 85 GN, maybe around 15 with no knock...but even then I get knock between shifts.

When I first got the car, it was running 17 on the VDO gage. I later got my Tlink and started looking at things. If I turned it up one thread on the actuator, it would show between 6-8 degrees. Turn it back down to 17 and not a peep out of it. My 85 GN is a little different in that I can run 21 on pump gas, no alky, and get 0 knock with a Thrasher 92 chip. But that car has been played with. :D

My other 85 T is set to 13psi still but it has a 307 pump and is also hotwired and all stock otherwise. Haven't tried to turn it up at all. Need to sell it.:(
