So, i've been keeping up with the articles in "GM high tech perrformance" on upgrading an 87' Grand National. I'm just looking for a few opinions if this seems like a smart way to go? would anyone go a different route?

Read GM High Tech for entertainment, read the boards for information. GMHTP has made a few missteps in building turbo Buicks. It can happen to the best of us.

i've noticed you've not yet installed the 60 injectors....would you recommend skipping the 42's all together and starting out big? i know it depends on the mods but what's your opinion

Go straight to the mototron 60's and matching chip, it will give you room for further mods down the road should you choose to do so.

Here is the first mod you should do to any Buick V6.

Upgrade the fuel pump first. A volt booster is not a bad idea either. It solves problems you would hit along the way.

Fuel pump, dude. Fuel pump.

I've done a few mods I would call "safe". Nothing too outrageous, still using the factory turbo & intercooler with 45k miles on the car. And it runs very well. Mods are in my sig.

Opinions of my setup welcomed by the seasoned folks here.

It all depends on what you intend to do with your car. How fast do ya wanna go? I say go with the 60's because they will work with little mods as well as higher horsepower additions and they don't cost too much more, ($100 more)than the 42.5# injectors. My car went 11.80 with the 42.5#.

I haven't installed the 60# ones yet because I injured my back and haven't felt up to tinkering lately.

Upgrade the fuel system first with fuel pump, hotwire and adjustable fuel pressure regulator. I am not a fan of the volt booster, I've heard they can cause issues with other upgrades, but I do not have one so I cannot comment from experience.

This site contains a LOT of good turbo Buick info.
