Save as .GIF format...?'s

On my old computer I would use Paint Brush to save pics as .GIF files but my new computer doesn't offer that format in Paint Brush. How come? My old computer has MS Word installed on it and my new one does not. Is this a function/addition of MS Word?

Even my Photoshop won't save as a GIF format.

What photoshop do you have? Even the oldest versions can save as a .gif.

The newer version of MS paint will work with gif's and jpg's and even allow transparent backgrounds on gifs.

Windows XP doesn't seem to like it though because It hid Paint when I loaded XP and has hid it when I've loaded XP updates, removing it from my accessories folder and removing the shortcut icon from my desktop.

I had to do a search to find it in a MS dustbin somewhere.

I have photoshop 5.5 and it doesn't give me the gif option.
After flattening an image I go to "save as" and I get tiff's, jpeg, etc but no gif.. I may try opening a jpeg then seeing if I can convert that to a gif...

I wonder what MS Paint version I have.. Strange. My old computer does everything UNGN says (clear background etc) but this new one doesn't even give me the Gif option..
I'm running win98 on my new computer so maybe if I do an upgrade to the latest win98 files it will upgrade MS Paint..

I did a search for a MS Paint upgrade last night (if there is such a thing) but couldn't find anything.
