I scanned my 86 GN with a friends scanner and my spark advance program read 36 degrees, my IAC IS 60, my knock retard is 36, and my o2 is jumping between .20-.86. I put a new IAC before I did the scan. Some of these readings don't seem correct any ideas.
 
What scantool as some read different numbers.
IAC is to high.
At what point did you get the knock?
O2s jump around while driving, what you are looking for is 790-810 range @ WOT.
What chip?
Do you have the link for the sensor specs?
 
Need more info. I assume the engine was warm, in closed loop and idling. The only thing that looks off a little is the IAC count, looks kind of high. Should be down in the 20 to 40 range. The O2 is normal. I'm not sure where the knock count came from. What were the conditions when the scan was taken? What mods on motor?
 
I don't know what kind of scanner it was.
I'm not detecting any knock.
I did the scan at idle and at operating temp in closed loop.
The chip is stock as far as I know. The prom ID is 7464 if thats helps.
I went on the link for the specs and thats why I have some ?.
I noticed the IAC count seemed high also, it's brand new from GM.
I just got this car in Feb. and was told the motor was rebuilt 3,000 miles ago as far as I know it's stock. The car runs good other than a slite miss when driving and your foot is lightley on the gas pedal. Also my RPM's are 975-1000 at idle in park.
 
You posted knock retard of 36?
Reset the IAC to 10-30 range.
You might need to reset you TPS.
I would get a turbotweak chip as the stock chip has to much timing for todays gas.
 
Did you go through the IAC/TPS setup proceedure? The idle seems kind of high. The TPS should be around .42 volts at idle.
 
The knock retard read 36 at idle. The sensor specs say it should be zero at idle.
I did the TPS/IAC adjustment before I replaced the IAC.
My o2 cross counts are zero at idle and the specs are 10-20 at idle if that helps.
