no you do not need a knock gauge. the scanmaster will display knock. just select the 02/knock on the scanmaster and your ready for a WOT pass
 
speaking o/2 is it better to run a wide band with a almost stock set up?

That is really up to you, but a WB is way more accurate. I would judge it on what your plans are in the future. Are you gonna throw alky and turn up the boost? If so, then get that WB for tuning. If you are looking for a stocker that you will run 15 - 17 Lbs of boost, a LB will probably suffice. If you were to get a WB when ever you decide to bump your combo up, you are ready to rock n roll.
