scanmaster problems???

THe scanmaster in my car has been acting up for a while. It acts like it has an open in the power to it. IT would work fine for a bit then a 2.0 would be displayed similar to what you'd see upon startup. Now it just does that all the time. I've redone the ground. Reattached it to the same supply power. Now...where it plugs into the orange wire(white to orange) Is that what could be causing this? It's not getting a signal from the ecm? Has anyone had this kinda problem before?

Does anyone have an idea about this? My car is throwing a code right now. I have an idea as to what it is but I could be wrong. I really need this thing back. I'm clueless about it because it was already on the car when I bought it.

You mentioned that it was showing a 2.0 at startup, the connections for 2.0 and 2.1 are the same so have a look at page 3 in the manual and be sure all the connections are clean and solid.

A flaky connection could cause it to behave as you described. If the connections all look good and are going to the right wires, and it still does this then something else may be at fault.

How does the car run right now ? You mentioned it is throwing a code, which one ?

check your chip and make sure there is no corrosion...i had a similar problem and this was the cause...take care

Fullthrottle speed is the maker of the scanmaster and they have a forum for questions just like this one. I would ask them if you have not already. Mike or Bob could more than likely give you the answer you are looking for.
